12 Quotes That Prove Hagrid Is The Best Part Of HP
Recently, I read the entire Harry Potter series for the first time in my life (I know, I know, I’m a little behind on the times, but better late than never, right?) and I’ve gotta tell you something: Hagrid — and all of Hagrid’s great quotes — do not get nearly enough credit. I mean, sure, Dumbledore’s got enough one-liners for the ages, and the Weasley twins might just be my first YA-crushes since back in the days when my bookshelves were filled with Madeleine L’Engle and Sarah Dessen; and Luna Lovegood is the BFF I always wanted and never had… but Hagrid is kind of the man.
I mean, come on: he’s tall, dark, and a little scruffy; he’s sensitive, sincere, and hardworking; he loves animals; he’ll be able to handle any spider-in-the-bathroom problem you throw at him. Plus, Hagrid and I totally rock the exact same hair style. What’s not to love? So that’s why I think a collection of Hagrid’s best quotes is a much-needed addition to the internet treasure trove of Harry Potter love. (And seriously, you Potterheads do love your book quotes.)
Here are 12 of Hagrid’s best quotes (plus a few quotes about Hagrid that were just too good to leave out,) because we could all use a little more Rubeus Hagrid in our lives — amirite?
1. “I am what I am, an’ I’m not ashamed. ‘Never be ashamed,’ my ol’ dad used ter say, ‘there’s some who’ll hold it against you, but they’re not worth botherin’ with.’ An’ he was right.”

3. “I tell you, that dragon’s the most horrible animal I’ve ever met, but the way Hagrid goes on about it, you’d think it was a fluffy little bunny rabbit. When it bit me he told me off for frightening it. And when I left, he was singing it a lullaby.”
— Ron Weasley, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
4. Harry leaned forward to see Hagrid, who was ruby-red in the face and staring down as his enormous hands, his wide grin hidden in the tangle of his black beard.“We should’ve known!” Ron roared. “Who else would have assigned us a biting book?”

— Rubeus Hagrid, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
8. “Yeh know wha’ Harry?” he said, looking up from the photograph of his father, his eyes very bright, “when I firs’ met you, you reminded me o’ me a bit.
