Kate Middleton's Red Dress Costs Less Than $100

by Shea Simmons

Kate Middleton's altruism and her adorable family may be two of her most well-known qualities, but it's hard to leave her sense of style off the list. Now, Kate Middleton's $77 maxi dress has placed Middleton back into the fashion spotlight — though, it's not as if she ever left. Middleton is known for mixing high-end designers and affordable fashions. Her style choices seem to communicate via fashion that she maintains a sense of normalcy despite her access to incredible, expensive designer duds. For me, that seems to be part of her popularity.

Middleton has become somewhat known for rocking affordable fashions or wearing an outfit more than once. While other celebrities, royals, or public figures seem to view a re-wear as a sin, Middleton embraces the habit of we normals and dons dresses more than once. Middleton, however, definitely embraces all of the style powers that her position as Duchess of Cambridge grants her. Last October, Middleton looked stunning as she stepped out in a lace Dolce & Gabbana dress that seamlessly blended sexy and classic.

While everyone loves seeing Middleton in gorgeous designer duds, it's when she wears affordable looks or stuns in that coat a second time around that makes her seem more down-to-earth than most public figures. Now, she's done it again during she and Prince William's trip to India.

Middleton's beautiful patterned Maxi dress is from UK-based brand Glamourous and retails for only $77! The Duchess wore the dress during day three of she and Prince William's trip. Middleton wore the dress when visiting children at a facility run by Indian non-profit and NGO the Salaam Baalak Trust, an organization that supports working children in inner cities.

At the moment, the dress is currently on a waiting list. That shouldn't come as much of a shock, though. Every time Middleton wears an accessible fashion, it sell out almost immediately. Despite the fact that the dress will be back in stock on May 10, if you just can't seem to wait, there are options out there that will you get a similar look for a comparable price.

Keyhole Detail

a.n.a Sleeveless Lace-Back Printed Tiered Maxi Dress, $35, J.C. Penney

The keyhole at the neckline is reminiscent of Middleton's lace-up front, and the patterns definitely resemble one another.

Spaghetti Strap Option

Fresh Influence Dress, $70, ModCloth

While Middleton's dress had sleeves, this spaghetti strap version features a similar boho pattern, and if you're planning on hitting up festival season, the removal of the sleeve is a perfect idea.

Plunging Maxi

Glamorous Tall Paisley Print Plunge Front Tea Dress, $67, ASOS

Bonus points to this dress! It's from the same brand. The plunging neckline gives a sexier feel to the frock, but the color and addition of a pattern keep it in the same vein as Middleton's.

Simpler Sheath

Breezy Night Stroll Dress in Red, $99, ModCloth

This frock may not have the pattern or lace-up detail of Middleton's dress, but the silhouette and color are a more pared-down version of Middleton's maxi.
