Kira Won't Be In 'Teen Wolf' Season 6
This is a sad day for Teen Wolf fans, or, more accurately, for Kira Yukimura fans. (And don't even get me started on Scott and Kira 'shippers.) Arden Cho, who plays Kira on the show, won't be back for Season 6. Cho uploaded a vlog to YouTube on Monday confirming her imminent departure from the series, because she wanted to let her fans know directly that her character wouldn't be back. She has been an integral part of the show since joining the cast in 2014, bringing an entirely new mythology to the werewolf program and healing the wounds left by the death of Allison Argent. But now it's official — Arden Cho won't be back for Teen Wolf Season 6, and this news is so so sad.
This is a huge shock for Teen Wolf fans, as even the show's creator Jeff Davis had previously discussed the future of Cho's character on the show. In March 2016, discussing Kira's role in Season 6, Davis told TV Guide, "Her goal is to learn to control the fox spirit within her. That's basically why she goes back to the skinwalkers. She wants to save her friends and finally put Theo in the ground as well, but also to be able to take care of herself." However, in July 2015 Davis told the San Diego Comic-Con that Season 5 of Teen Wolf was supposed to end the series, and it looks as though there are some big changes ahead for all of the show's characters.
While the reason for character Kira's departure from Teen Wolf isn't completely clear as yet, in her video, Cho elaborated a little on what happens behind the scenes of the show. Keeping the video conversational, she said, "I think sometimes in a show where there’s so many characters, there isn’t always room for everyone. I do wish we would’ve developed a little bit more of her powers and the skinwalkers.” While it's a shame that Season 6 won't feature the actor, it certainly sounds as if the door might be open to a return in the future. As Cho said, "You never know with Teen Wolf. People might come back.” We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed.
Arden Cho is no stranger to TV and movie roles, having also appeared on shows like Pretty Little Liars, Castle, and Hawaii Five-0. Cho is also a singer and model, and won the Miss Korea Chicago competition in 2004. As a person with many different talents, it likely won't be long until Arden Cho is on our screens once more, perhaps even in a leading role?
