It's never really been clear how adorable couple Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden first met, but now the author of The Longevity Book is opening up about exactly how their first meeting went down. Basically, it was something straight out of a romantic comedy, because Diaz and Madden first meeting was love at first sight — at least for her it was. While chatting with Andy Cohen during his radio show, Radio Andy, the 43-year-old actor said, "It was one of those things where everyone tells you, 'You just know when you know.' I was like, 'What does that mean? Oh, I get it. You just know when you know.' Like you're my husband."
She went onto say that the two never really crossed paths until she held a dinner party with Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, Benji's sister-in-law and twin brother, respectively. However, she knew of Benji and found him very attractive. "The first thing I said when I first met my [would be] husband was, 'He's hot,'" she said. "How come I didn't know this before? We had never been in the same circle."
The night of the dinner party, Joel asked Diaz if he could invite his brother, too. She said yes and the next thing she knew she was falling hard for him. After finally formally meeting him, she told Cohen, "Then I saw him again. Wait a second, still hot!"
From that moment on, they started dating and eventually married in January 2015. There's no doubt they had a memorable first meeting. It's clear that Diaz fell hard and fast for Benji, but what about him? Did he feel the same way? I have a feeling he most definitely did.
