9 Westminster Dog Show Photos from 2014 That Perfectly Capture the Competition
Calling all dog lovers — your second favorite televised canine event (after the Puppy Bowl, of course) of the year has arrived. The Westminster Kennel Club kicked off its 138th Annual Dog Show at Piers 92/94 and Madison Square on Monday in New York City and it was everything you hoped it'd be. Big dogs, medium dogs, small dogs, fluffy dogs, skinny dogs — all the canines you could ever dream to see in one place and each one more adorable than the next.
The annual competition may have started Monday, but it’s far from over. While Monday's competitions consisted of the "Best of Breed" and "Breed Results" for the hound (Bloodhound), toy (Miniature Pinscher), non-sporting (Standard Poodle), and herding groups (Cardigan Welsh Corgi), Tuesday's competitions will include the "Best of Breed" and "Breed Results" for the sporting, working, and terrier groups as well as Junior Showmanship and the show’s highest honor, “Best in Show”.
You can watch a live stream of the event on WestminsterKennelClub.org or on the official 2014 Westminster Show app. But for now, enjoy these 9 photos of exceptionally adorable and well-bred canines on their worst and best behavior at the 138th Annual Dog Show.
