Tragic News for this Oscar Nominee

The Hollywood Reporter has just reported the death of Julia Roberts' half-sister Nancy Motes. According to the magazine, Motes, 37, had a complicated medical history and prescription drugs were found near her body. She was found by paramedics on the bathroom floor of her California home on Sunday. There is an autopsy scheduled on Tuesday to confirm the cause of death.

In a statement to People magazine, the family's rep noted, "It is with deep sadness that the family of Nancy Motes ... confirms that she was found dead in Los Angeles yesterday of an apparent drug overdose... There is no official report from the Coroner's office yet. The family is both shocked and devastated."

Motes worked as a Production Assistant in Hollywood, most recently working on the set of Glee. She was the youngest of her siblings and is also survived by her niece Emma Roberts, half-brother Eric Roberts, and her fiance John Dilbeck, who is a film and locations manager in Los Angeles. Motes and Dilbeck were planning on getting married in May.

Motes had an apparent rocky relationship with her famous half-sister Julia, however, was quoted in an interview with the New York Daily News as saying “I love Julia absolutely, and I have no doubt she loves me.”
