There are some things in this world that just go really well together. Cookies and milk; macaroni and cheese; wine and pretty much everything. And, of course, Derek Hough and Dancing With the Stars . Ever since the show's inception, Derek has proven to be a standout among all of the show's talented dance pros. In fact, he's helped stars take home that Mirrorball Trophy on more than one occasion. So when Derek Hough announced that he wouldn't be on Dancing With the Stars this season, many fans (myself included) were admittedly disappointed. The show just isn't the same without him out on the dance floor. However, that doesn't mean we still can't still stalk... I mean, track his every move based on what photos Derek Hough posts on his Instagram account.
We know that his absence is due to his upcoming participation in the Broadway production of Singin' In The Rain , but what is he doing in the meantime, before rehearsals commence, to fill the hours of his day? Not only do these photos help to shed some light on the matter, but they also still make us feel involved in his life somehow. He may not be choreographing the foxtrot or tango for a reality competition, but he's still strutting those moves as often as possible in his day-to-day life... along with plenty of other things.
He's Working On His Backflip
Whether this is part of his Singin' In The Rain training or just for fun remains unclear, but it's still an impressive feat nonetheless and could even be incorporated to his dance routines once he (hopefully) returns to DWTS next season.
He's Getting Addicted To TV Shows
More specifically, Hulu's latest series The Path, starring Hugh Dancy and Aaron Paul — the latter of which he apparently hangs out with while watching the show. I'm not jealous or anything.
He's Filming Jane The Virgin
If you're a fan of this CW hit, then you're definitely in for a special treat when Derek makes a special dance-centric cameo in an upcoming episode. And, as you can see from the image above, his chemistry with Gina Rodriguez is off the charts. Though, given all of his success on DWTS did we really expect anything less?
He's Staying As Fit As Ever
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I think this image pretty much speaks for itself. (*swoons*)
He's Spending Quality Time With Those He Loves
And really, is there any better way to spend one's time?
So if we can't have Derek on DWTS, at least we know that his time off from the show is being well spent.
