Maybe this is due to the long hiatus, but Friday night's episode of The Vampire Diaries felt particularly confusing for some reason. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely action-packed and everything, but there just seemed to be a billion things happening at once. (Not to mention all those time jumps that seemed to happen every other minute.) But through it all, there was one main plot development that I found particularly intriguing: the fact that the Phoenix Stone has now been destroyed, thanks to Nora and Mary Louise's final act of heroism. But considering that Stefan was inside the stone at the time, viewers are naturally curious to know what became of him in the aftermath of it all. What happened to Stefan on The Vampire Diaries ?
Thankfully, this question seemed to get somewhat answered if you were able to stop yelling at your television screen long enough to catch next week's promo. With the stone destroyed, that means that all of vampire souls trapped inside of it have now, apparently, been released. However, it doesn't seem as though they were able to be transported back into their original forms, which means we have another body swap situation on our hands. Because as much as this individual may look like Stefan, he definitely doesn't act anything like him. And, more importantly, he doesn't intend of giving up the body he's now claimed anytime soon.
But if Stefan isn't in his own body, then odds are he's found himself living inside someone else's. The only question is whose? And while this pretty much feels like searching for a needle in a haystack, at least we can take comfort in knowing that he's still out there somewhere rather than obliterating into nothingness along with the stone. All he has to do is get himself back to Mystic Falls and let the gang find a way to transfer him back into his original body. I mean, what could go wrong? (The answer that you're looking for is: everything.)
