Here's Where The 'Brink!' Cast Is Today

by Mallory Carra

In the grand tradition of skating movies, Disney Channel's Brink! is a totally '90s classic. The channel's 1998 original TV movie has it all: Rollerblading at the height of the craze, facing the dilemma of doing what you love for free vs. "selling out," and lots of iconic '90s hair. Nearly 20 years after the premiere of the movie, I have to wonder where the Brink! cast is today, because I presume it's been a long time since they've been out skating. And who could forget the fun ensemble, which included teen heartthrob Erik von Detten, Sam Horrigan, Christina Vidal, Asher Gold, and Walter Emanuel Jones?

To refresh your memory, Brink! follows skating teen Andy "Brink" Brinker (von Detten) and his crew of "Soul Skaters," who skate for the love of the sport, unlike the very '90s-named sponsored group (and rival) Team X-Bladz. When Brink finds out his family needs money, he sells out and skates with Team X-Bladz — led by bully Val (Horrigan) — for money. Ultimately, Brink realizes he'd rather skate for fun and have his friends than make cold hard cash with a bunch of skater bullies. Even on inline skates, love will win out in the end.

Check out what the Brink! cast is up to these days.

These days, von Detten is a 33-year-old dad. Ah, how time flies. In 2010, he provided the voice of older Sid Phillips in Toy Story 3 — because he originated the voice of Sid in the original Toy Story in 1995. He has also made guest appearances on Family Guy, Bones, Malcolm in the Middle, and Avatar: The Last Airbender, but hasn't had any credited roles since 2010.

Sam Horrigan (Val)

Horrigan made lots of TV guest appearances in the early aughts in shows like One Tree Hill, 8 Simple Rules, Desperate Housewives, Joan of Arcadia, Veronica Mars, and Reba. In 2007, he starred in The CW's Beauty and the Geek as the show's first male beauty (his formal job title: "Club Promoter") and he finished as runner up. If you check out his Twitter account today, it seems that Horrigan has become religious, got married in 2013, and is now a proud dad to a little girl.

Christina Vidal (Gabriella)

Vidal is guest-starring up a storm on a bunch of TV shows, like Limitless, Castle, Being Mary Jane, Stalker, The Player, House, and more.

Best known as Zack the original Black Ranger in Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Jones most recently provided voice work for the 2013 movie Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2. According to IMDB, he will appear in the upcoming movies Star Trek: Captain Pike, Man Without A Head, and Gideon's Frontier.

Patrick Levis (Peter)

Levis starred in So Weird and The Fresh Beat Band in his post-Brink! acting days. He also guest starred in King of Queens, and CSI. According to the YouTube video above, Levis is now a Christian singer.

Geoffrey Blake (Jimmy)

Last year alone, Blake starred in The Man in the High Castle, Agent X, and Texas Rising. He also appeared in the TV series CSI, Private Practice, Grey's Anatomy, CSI: Miami, Memphis Beat, Mob City, and Franklin and Bash.

Katie Volding (Katie Brinker)

Volding went on to star in the Au Pair series of TV movies on Free Form (when it was ABC Family). She played Katie Caldwell in 1999's Au Pair, 2001's Au Pair 2 and 2009's Au Pair 3: Adventure in Paradise.

So even though it seems like Brink! came out just yesterday, the cast seems to have done well for themselves in the years since they skated into everyone's world on the Disney Channel.
