Nick & Jess 'Shippers Loved This 'New Girl' Moment

by Kelly Schremph

If you still consider yourself to be a major supporter of Nick and Jess' relationship on New Girl , then Tuesday night's episode "Sam Again" undoubtedly sent your 'shipping hearts into overdrive when it became very, very clear that Nick still has feelings for Jess. Ironically, this revelation all began after Jess reunited with her ex-boyfriend Sam, who, as it turns out, was currently dating Jess' potential new boss, Genevieve. Now, if you recall, the whole reason Jess and Sam broke up in the first place was because he found out that Nick and Jess had kissed, so they didn't exactly part on the best of terms. However, Jess didn't want to lose out on this new job just because of an awkward breakup, so she convinced Nick to apologize to Sam in order to try and smooth things over with Genevieve.

Now, understandably, Nick wasn't all that keen to confront someone who had formerly punched him in the throat, but as usual, he couldn't say no to helping Jess out. But just as the apology was getting started, Nick admitted that he wasn't sorry that he happened since it was something that they had really wanted to happen. "It was fun. It felt great. And then we dated for a long time and that was fun," Nick went on to say. "We fell in love with each other." And it was almost like the more he talked about their relationship, the more he realized how great it actually was.

Jess eventually cut off his little speech, knowing that it was probably doing more harm than good in the job department, so the moment was quickly blown over, unfortunately. But that doesn't take away from the fact that Nick's feelings for Jess have never fully gone away. Yes, he developed a strong attraction to Reagan while Jess was away, but what they share can't easily be forgotten about.

That's not to say that they should immediately get back together or anything. Nick has matured a lot since they broke up and now even co-manages the bar, but he still has a little ways to go in order to be the man that she truly deserves. But if this episode is any indication, then that's definitely the direction the writers are heading. There may just be hope for these two crazy kids yet.
