Big news for the upcoming Avengers sequel that you should be super, super excited about: According to The Huffington Post, Paul Bettany has joined the cast of The Avengers: Age of Ultron as the Vision, an android created by the titular Ultron. Exciting! And, in a way, strangely fitting — I can't deny that I've looked at Paul Bettany a few times and thought, y'know, he'd actually make a really great android for an evil mastermind in a major film franchise that is based off of Marvel comic books. So, it's kind of excellent casting.
Anyway, as some of your diehard Marvel fans may already know, this isn't actually Bettany's first film in the Marvel franchise: Before joining The Avengers, he actually appeared in the Iron Man films as Tony Stark's trusty intelligence system J.A.R.V.I.S. — the voice, anyway. So, if you want to make The Avengers: Age of Ultron super fun to watch, just think of that when Bettany is all decked out as the Vision in the film.
Bettany joins an already humongous cast including Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders, Mark Ruffalo, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, and James Spader as the titular villan Ultron. Try saying that cast list five times fast.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron will hit theaters on May 1, 2015.
