There are many reasons that Kylie Lip Kits are a coveted, best-selling makeup innovation. The mega matte Kylie Lip Kits offer lips a suede-like texture. They don't dry out your pout nor do they budge. The shades span the color spectrum, from bold, bright red to soft, pretty pink. These liquid lippies and their matching, accompanying lip liners allow you to build a full, voluptuous pout... just like our lip heroine Kylie Jenner, who created these babies. I've tried both Candy K and Koko K and can attest that nothing else in the matte liquid lipstick universe can compare. As Jenner adds new shades to her family of lipsticks, with the gothic, dark purple Kourt K on deck, I can't help but wonder if all of her future Lip Kits will offer the same matte texture.
Well, hisory tells us that yes, the Lip Kits will remain matte. Jenner has long been known for her super matte and full pucker. Her hallmark lip look sparked a trend and then the Lip Kits allowed her fans, minions, and makeup mavens to copy that very signature.
The Lip Kit texture and formula are so on trend for lips right now. However, you and I both know that trends come and trends go. Mega matte mouths will not be the final lip trend we encounter. A shift could happen at any time and lip gloss may very well make a welcome return.
However, take a look at the Lip Kit packaging. It says right there on the vial — "Matte Liquid Lipstick." And there are plenty of colors —black, sky blue, beige, navy, fuchsia, lime green, melon, you name it— that have yet to get the Lip Kit treatment. I mean, we're still waiting on the Kendall K Lip Kit (or would that be "Kendall J?") and the Kim K Lip Kit to complete the family set.
Therefore, I think that the Lip Kits will be of matte texture for the foreseeable future.
However, if and when Jenner does run out of colors to offer in the matte, signature Lip Kit formula, she may want to consider introducing a different extension, version, or variation of the product. Maybe she will do a limited edition "Kylie Lip Kit Metallic," with a chrome-like finish. That texture could offer the same strong, defined look as the current Lip Kits.
Don't forget that she is a trendsetter, so you can also count on her to be ahead of trends and to switch things up when you least expect it. I wouldn't be shocked if she switched gears in mid-stream. But I'm not betting on it.
That said, she can easily have her product designers swap out "Matte Liquid Lipstick" to "Metallic Liquid Lipstick" on the tube for a LE run.
That's my read. I expect lots more Kylie Lip Kits to be matte, since the trend shows no sign of dying down. She's found her niche so she may as well work it until the bitter end.
Then, she can spark a totally new trend with metallic Lip Kits. I do not expect her to do one texture forever, but I do expect her to ride this hot horse.
