Fuller House star Jodie Sweetin was one of the first contestants announced for Season 22, and she came out on the dance floor strong on the premiere of Dancing With The Stars, dancing to Demi Lovato’s “Confident” with partner Keo Motsepe. Who would have known, though, that underneath that confident exterior and sexy dance costume Jodie Sweetin was hiding a lot of nerves?
In the pre-dance “introduction” interview with Jodie and Keo, Jodie expressed how, as a kid, she didn’t really care what people thought of her. She grew up on television, basically, on Full House, so she was used to being the center of attention. Now, it’s different. As an adult, Jodie feels self-conscience about doing this kind of thing. Keo was helping her work through it, getting her dancing sea legs and her self-esteem up. I don’t know if it was the Demi Lovato song or the pep talks by Keo, but Jodie and Keo really rocked out their dance — the team earned some of the top scores of the night, setting the stage for Jodie to make a big case for that Mirror Ball trophy. No one will be saying, “How rude!” here.
It’s interesting how much value we put in people’s words, especially when we’re old enough to know that they can hurt our feelings. When Jodie was a kid, she didn’t care really what people said about her — as a grownup, Twitter exists. The Internet exists. Jodie doesn’t really have anything to worry about — with Keo by her side, she’s definitely going to show the world how she can dance (and just how confident she can be).
