Ever since it was revealed that Frank was the one who had killed Lila, viewers have wondered about Frank's actions. What did Sam have on Frank that he could use to make him straight up murder an innocent girl? And now thanks the How To Get Away With Murder Season 2 finale, we now have an answer to that burning question. It turns out that Frank was partially responsible for the death of Annalise's son. And shortly after she learned of his big secret, Frank up and disappeared, leaving no sign as to where he could be. But does this mean that Frank won't be back for HTGAWM Season 3? I wouldn't get too stressed out about it if I were you.
I'm sure many viewers will assume (as I have) that Frank was responsible for Wallace Mahoney's death in New York City. And maybe that's true. (On this show, you can never know for sure.) But, even if that is the case, we still have no idea where Frank intends to go from there. I mean, I doubt he cleaned out his closet just for a quick road trip, so wherever he's off to, he doesn't seem to have any intention of coming back.
That being said, it seems very unlikely that Frank won't be back in some capacity for the third season. There's just so much left of his story to tell, and I think Annalise will come to realize just how much she's depended on him throughout all these years. Not to mention his unfinished business with his relationship with Laurel. There's no way she's just going to let him disappear forever. She'll track him down no matter how long it takes.
As for the actor himself, Charlie Weber has yet to reveal (via Twitter anyway) any clues regarding Frank's future on the show. But, like I said, he's just too big of a key player in all these murders to slink off to parts unknown. We'll see him again. I'd stake my life on it. (Just kidding. That's dangerous talk with this show.)
