17 Outfits Lorelai Gilmore Should Repeat

by Rosie Narasaki

Lorelai and Rory Gilmore always had quite the respective fashion senses. Their outfits were centered around regrettable early-aughts trends, yes, but many of them remain stylish to this day, nonetheless. So, which ensembles bear repeating? Which outfits should Lorelai repeat in the upcoming Gilmore Girls revival?

Lorelai has definitely had her fashion ups and downs — from all the bandanas and t-shirts layered over long-sleeved shirts, to the colorful sundresses and eye-catching scarves, she's got quite the distinctive sense of style. All of the pretty, shiny clothes are just yet another reason to get excited about the upcoming reboot, no?

After all, with every day that passes, we get more and more clues and details of what we're going to be getting from Amy Sherman-Palladino, Daniel Palladino, and Netflix. It's beyond exciting, and there are so many things to look forward for from the forthcoming Gilmore Girls reboot; chief of which might have to be the fact that Lauren Graham got choked up while describing it to TVLine — oh, and the fact that all rumors seem to point to a wedding. The fashion of the show is like icing on a cake, so why not celebrate those as well?

So, with all that in mind, let's take a look at 17 of Lorelai's outfits that need to make it into the reboot:

1. This Sassy Vest

The whole look is very Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail.

2. This Retro Dress

Stars Hollow needs to have some sort of retro-themed event — because the Lorelais need to repeat their danceathon ensembles (and it'd be great to see Rory's USO uniform again, too).

3. This Red Dress

The red lace dress Lorelai wore to Rory's Chilton graduation is still one of her best outfits from the show.

4. This Dreamy Blouse

Ooh, hopefully Lorelai wears this dreamy blouse again, preferably paired with the same statement necklace (though maybe different pants).

5. This Ironic T-Shirt

Come on, she'd totally fit in with the hipsters of today with this baseball tee.

6. This Pearly Tank Top

This graphic tank is ultra-stylish (and, of course, the newspaper veil's no slouch either).

7. This Leather Jacket

Lorelai always had quite the arsenal of badass leather jackets — so, hopefully we'll be seeing more of them in the new Netflix series.

8. This Shih Tzu Sweater

No explanation necessary.

9. The Engagement Ensemble

Handkerchief hems and shrug-style cardigans aren't exactly in style at the moment, but floral prints (and Lorelai/Luke engagements) completely are.

10. This Red Power Suit

Whatever the reboot has in store, I think we can all agree that some Lorelai/Emily #twinning would only make it even better.

11. This Timeless Coat

A good coat will last you at least a decade or so.

12. The Infamous Laundry Day Ensemble

OK, this cut-offs/cowboy boots/pink t-shirt combo is straight-up iconic at this point.

13. This Bandana

BRING BACK THE BANDANAS.

14. This Flower Crown

Aww.

15. This Choker Wrap Dress

Thanks to models like Gigi Hadid and Lily Rose Depp, blouses/dresses with attached neck band detailing are all the rage right now.

16. This Epic Hat

I'm not saying we have to see Lorelai's love of kooky hats in the reboot... but it sure would be nice, especially in the winter and fall installments.

And last but not least?

17. This Wedding Dress

Now granted, this dress comes with a lot of history... but it's flat-out gorgeous, and if the wedding rumors are true, it would sure be nice to see Lorelai walking down the aisle in a dress as fabulously floofy as this $7,500 Monique Lhuillier number.
