Could This Casting Get Any Hotter?

by Alanna Bennett

It seems like it's been, y'know, and okay year for Chiwetel Ejiofor. You know, that Academy Award nomination for 12 Years A Slave ain't too shabby. When someone has a year as good as his has been, there's always at least one underlying question: What next? Ejiofor will star in Triple Nine , which will (probably) be co-starring fellow British export Kate Winslet.

That's not all the casting for this movie we're psyched about, though: Christoph Waltz is already signed on, with Cate Blanchett and Michael B. Jordan also rumored. The film is a thriller, written by Matt Cook and directed by John Hillcoat (The Road), which centers on "a group of gang members and a corrupt cop [who] plan the murder of a police officer in order to pull off their biggest heist yet across town."

Ejiofor's part originally went to Charlie Hunnam, which is a nice sign that Ejiofor will be continuing his career's trend of playing a lot of roles that don't necessarily require him to be black — a goal young black actors like Michael B. Jordan have expressed before — despite starring in the most heavily-discussed slavery movie of recent memory.

It should be noted, however, that Winslet is not yet officially signed on, so fingers crossed on that one.
