The '00s were a great time to be a teenager. Hollywood was serving up so many quality films about high school, college, and growing up that no busy high schooler could possibly keep up with them — but, of course, that didn't keep us all from trying. Fun fact: Those movies are still awesome and it is time for you to revisit them. Choosing just one '00s teen movie to watch is no easy task, though. When you have gems like Mean Girls, The Princess Diaries, and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants to pick from, the situation wanders into Sophie's Choice territory — if Sophie was choosing between her favorite movies, that is.
The only way to decide what '00s movie to watch without falling down an endless Netflix hole is to let the Zodiac decide. Whether you love reading your horoscope every day, or you think the Zodiac is about as real as unicorns and one size fits all pants, letting your star sign guide you to your next movie choice is a fun way to plan your next movie night. It's not about believing, it's about opening yourself up to revisiting an '00s classic or finding the awesome teen movie you missed that one fall when you were too busy cramming for midterms to hit the theater with your besties.
Either way, the end result is you getting to watch a teen movie from the '00s, and there's no bad there.
Aries (March 21 — April 19): Angus, Thongs, And Perfect Snogging
Someone with the optimistic and adventurous soul of an Aries needs a movie that will hold their attention and not bring them down. Enter Angus with her British wit and penchant for getting herself into ridiculous jams. Her boy problems will keep you captivated because you never know what she will do next, while her adventures with her friends will feed into their natural need for excitement.
Taurus (April 20 — May 20): Bring It On
Determined, but stubborn? Bring It On is a Taurus' best friend. Torrance (Kirsten Dunst!) simply has no quit when it comes to leading her cheerleading team to the finals, and the opposing squad led by head cheerleader Isis (Gabrielle Union!) forces both sides to bring their all. The battle of skill and the strong bonds between young women will keep Tauruses enthralled from start to finish.
Gemini (May 21 — June 20): Freaky Friday
There is so much going on with you at any given time that you need a movie that is as interested in examining the intricacies of personality as you are. The fact that the movie stars Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis is just a bonus. Sit back and bask in the body-swapping comedy's unique take on seeing the world from someone else's point of view while you also appreciate the way the movie celebrates being spontaneous and cautious.
Cancer (June 21 — July 22): A Walk To Remember
No other sign is as sensitive and romantic as Cancers are, and while I hate to leave you guys crying, A Walk To Remember truly is your perfect movie. Not only will you relate to Jamie, you will fall hard for the romance between her and Landon. Will the movie make your heart ache? Yep, but you will love every minute of it.
Leo (July 23 — August 22): Mean Girls
Leos roar louder than anyone else, which is why the clique-laden examination of high school politics and the infinitely quotable dialogue of Mean Girls is your idea of a perfect movie. The characters are every bit as bold as you are, and their fierceness will both amuse and inspire you. Sure, you'll end up quoting the movie for at least a week straight after watching it, but your friends can deal.
Virgo (August 23 — September 22): Juno
Juno is nothing if not a smart, deeply analytical young woman with a desire to make the best choices for her future. Virgos will love her instantly and be drawn into her story as she does everything she can to maintain balance in her life as she prepares to give her baby up for adoption and move on to the next phase in her life. Funny and emotional, Virgos are in for something special with this movie.
Libra (September 23 — October 22): The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants
A Libra needs balance and romanticism in their storytelling — two things that don't always go together. However, in the case of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, that is exactly what you get. Four friends go on their own summer adventure, and touches of romance and magical realism are weaved throughout the story as the pants are passed between them all — giving Libras the best of both worlds.
Scorpio (October 23 — November 21): Step Up
No other sign is as determined to succeed as the Scorpio. Your perfect movie needs characters with as much drive and ambition as you have, like say, Step Up. Channing Tatum plays a dancing janitor with a penchant for trouble who finds his groove and direction in life thanks to the students at a school for arts. There's amazing dance moves, a touch of romance, and all the raw talent you could possibly want.
Sagittarius (November 22 — December 21): Whip It
Let your rebel heart sing with this totally underrated roller-derby movie. As a Sagittarius, you have little patience for characters who don't know what they want, which is why a movie overflowing with confident women with a passion for roller-derby is going to be your new favorite. Every actor shines, but Ellen Page's arc is sure to resonate with you the most.
Capricorn (December 22 — January 19): 17 Again
Capricorns, you are so devoted to work and getting things done, a movie like 17 Again is perfect for getting you to realize the importance of taking a break sometimes. Matthew Perry gets a chance to be a teen again and watching the workaholic dad realize how much he misses out on is sure to hold your attention while also encouraging you to plan a night out with your friends.
Aquarius (January 20 — February 18): The Princess Diaries
You are as unique as they come, and everyone loves you for it. If you are looking to enjoy some '00s teen movie goodness then look no further than The Princess Diaries. Mia is just as special as you are, and watching her learn how to own her confidence is going to delight your inner Aquarius.
Pisces (February 19 — March 20): An Education
This coming of age film will speak to the Pisces' sensitive soul. Lead character Jenny takes an unconventional route when it comes to growing up, but the ways in which her wise nature and her naivety crash against each other are infinitely watchable. This movie has a heart as big as yours, and the talents of Carey Mulligan — what more could you ask for?
The stars have pointed you toward your '00s teen movie destiny. Now go pop some popcorn and let the nostalgia sweep you away in a wave of cinematic happiness.
