Celebs' Reasons For Supporting Trump
When it comes to the 2016 presidential election, I promised myself that I would make the best effort I could to be the smartest voter that I could be, to better understand each candidate and their platform. There is no doubt that businessman Donald Trump has emerged as the most controversial candidate in his quest for the Republican party nomination, and his impassioned words have caused pretty intense rifts between parties and people. As a general rule, I assumed that most Hollywood celebs are staunch Democrats, but Trump has some surprising celebrity supporters. But why do these support Trump?
The only thing I can deduce from the diverse and somewhat bizarre list of celeb Trump supporters is that the 69-year-old and his campaign is just that: diverse and bizarre. He is somehow using his past as a cultural figure in entertainment to appeal to the far reaches of celebrity.
I am someone who is not a Trump supporter at all, as his policies and ideas on many, many things are completely opposite to mine, but I always find it interesting to know the reasoning behind someone's actions. Here are a few celebs' reasons for standing with Trump.
1. Gary Busey
In an interview with Fox411, Busey, who appeared on Celebrity Apprentice alongside Trump, said of his endorsement, "I know him personally. I know him professionally. He's a great guy. He's sharp. He's fast. He can change the country after the last eight years."
2. Azealia Banks
Banks is known for her Twitter rants, and in early February, she made some interesting arguments as to why Trump should be President and why she is voting for him. Essentially, Banks says that America only deserves someone like him, which sounds totally counterintuitive. She tweeted, "In conclusion, I think Donald Trump is evil like America is evil and in order for America to keep up with itself it needs him. And to sum up my rant: I am saying that politicians are inherently evil, I trust the one who is most transparent."
3. Sarah Palin
Sarah Palin sure has a confusing way with words, and her public support of Trump was just as confusing.
In the private sector, you actually have to balance budgets in order to prioritize, to keep the main thing the main thing, and he knows the main thing: A president is to keep us safe economically and militarily. He knows the main thing, and he knows how to lead the charge. So troops, hang in there, because help's on the way, because he, better than anyone, isn't he known for being able to command, fire?!
I am assuming she means to say that he knows how to care of business?
4. Terrell Owens
Looks like many of Trump's Celebrity Apprentice stars have his back. TMZ Sports caught up with Owens, who said of his former boss,"This may be what the country needs ... he's a guy who won't put up with B.S. and has what it takes to change how government is run. ... Plus, as the president, Trump would be able to say he knows me and he likes me." Yeah, that's a really big deal...
5. Tila Tequila
Tila Tequila cites being an "anti-vaxxer" as one of her reasons from supporting Trump, who has expressed his anti-vaccine rhetoric in the past. She posted the above video to explain her support for Trump for president, so try to make sense of whatever you can in there.
6. Aaron Carter
Carter replied to a tweet from Trump, writing, "Does America want to have a president who FOLLOWS or someone who leads? I vote For @realdonaldtrump." Carter received a lot of backlash from his fans, and defended his freedom of speech:
7. Wayne Newton
Mr. Las Vegas himself told Fox and Friends anchors:
I love Donald, and he would make a great president, for many reasons. Number one: he tells the truth. Number two: he's been where most of these guys want to be, in terms of riding on his own plane. He doesn't have to worry about what hotels he stays in, doesn't have to worry about how his family gets to Hawaii... I could give you so many reasons, but most of all, most important for Mr. Trump is: he tells it like it is.
8. Mike Tyson
During a conversation with Huffington Post Live last October, Tyson said he think the U.S. needs someone who is out of left field, sharing, "Let's try something new. Let's run America like a business, where no colors matter. Whoever can do the job, gets the job."
9. Jon Voight
Jon Voight is one of the latest Hollywood actors to voice support for Trump, and he released an exclusive statement to Breitbart News highlighting why he believes he is the right choice for our country:
I, Jon Voight, can say, without hesitation, that Donald is funny, playful, and colorful, but most of all, he is honest. When he decided to run for president, I know he did it with a true conviction to bring this country back to prosperity. He is the only one who can do it. No frills, no fuss, only candid truths. ... He will not let us down. I pray for all good people to see clearly what faces us now. The right vote will save our nation.
10. Jesse James
As an ex-Celebrity Apprentice star, James says he spent a lot of time with Trump and his family while filming the show and he posted a lengthy endorsement of Trump on Facebook.
What I personally observed is a man that is perfect suited to run this country. He is respectful to the little guy (which shows he worked hard to get where he is) and he is also tough as nails when he needs to be. The people he will appoint to key top positions will be top shelf, and you can bank if they don't perform? They will get the boot. Lastly the best quality I observed about Donald Trump is being a dad. This is by far his strongest quality.
Are these all reasons enough for him to become the next President of the United States? Time will only tell.
