In April 2015, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards was arrested at the Beverly Hills Hotel on charges of alleged trespassing, public intoxication, resisting an officer, and battery on an officer, per the Beverly Hills Police Department. Then, in September 2015, she was sentenced to three years probation, 30 days of community labor, ordered to attend 52 weeks of Alcoholics Anonymous after entering a no contest plea for a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, according to CBS News. She was also told to stay away from the Beverly Hills Hotel while on probation. On Tuesday, fans will see Kim Richards open up about her arrest to Andy Cohen in a candid Watch What Happens Live interview, and the show has shared a preview clip in advance.
This isn't the first time Richards has spoken about her arrest. She's given several interviews regarding that night at the hotel and the struggles she's faced with her sobriety. With Cohen, the 51-year-old didn't hold back about any details. Regarding the events, she told the host, "I drank that night. No excuses."
Per Richards, there was a lot of stress at that time of her life with her son, Chad Davis, being ill and her now late ex-husband, Monty Brinson, fighting cancer. "I stopped taking the time for me and going to meetings because I was taking care of other people and stopped taking care of myself," she admitted.
Up until that point, Richards said she was three and a half years sober, but she soon found herself having a drink here and there to cope with her family members and the tabloids saying she wasn't sober. The night of her arrest, she was at her daughter's Brooke Wiederhorn's home working on her blog for Bravo and had a drink. "I felt horribly guilty," she said about the drink. "I thought, 'I need to go home. I can't be at my daughter's house like this. This is terrible.'"
Eventually, she ended up at the Beverly Hills Hotel, because she realized she shouldn't be drinking and driving. Upon her arrival, she says an employee told her the Polo Lounge at the hotel was closing and she couldn't stay. Richards told Cohen, "He said, 'If you don't leave we're calling the police,' and I really thought he was joking, and he called the police. And one thing led to another."
As for her August 2015 arrest for allegedly shoplifting at Target, Richards told Cohen it's a current legal matter and she could not speak about it.
