It is that time of year when Peeps, the sugar-coated marshmallow chicks that have become entangled with Easter and all things spring, make their way into store aisles everywhere — and apparently, into our refrigerators. Prairie Farms dairy company announced it is bringing back its acclaimed Peeps Milk just in time for Easter, meaning now you can wash down those sugary, seasonal marshmallow treats with more sugar... and your daily serving of calcium. It sounds weird, but also kind of intriguing, right?
The new dairy offering inspired by Peeps is made with 100 percent ~real~ milk, comes in four different flavors (Chocolate Marshmallow, Egg Nog, Strawberry Créme, and Orange Créme), and is expected to hit stores nationwide. Peeps super fans (yes, they exist) may remember Prairie Farms' Peeps-flavored milk making its debut last year too, but at that point, the novelty product was only available in the midwest — more specifically, in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Michigan, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Ohio. But 2016 is a year of big change, and as such the dessert-like milk will be available coast to coast for both people who love Peeps, and people who are just shamelessly curiously.
Of course, if you're more a fan of the OG Peeps, there are still plenty of opportunities for you to get your hands on the marshmallow monsters. In fact, Just Born, the company that makes the lil guys, has an endless list of springtime offerings that riff off the classic yellow chicks you used to find in your Easter basket as a kid. Looking for more ways to get your marshmallow fix? These ought to do just the trick:
1. Peeps Orange Delight Flavored Marshmallow Dipped in Orange Fudge
Kinda like a marshmallow creamsicle, only there's fudge involved. If this fruity take turns out to be your thing, you can also get Lime Delight Flavored Marshmallow Dipped in Lime Fudge.
2. Mystery Flavor Peeps
For the most exciting Easter basket ever, am I right?
3. Chocolate-Covered Peeps
Because everything — and I mean everything — tastes better dipped in milk chocolate.
4. Peepsters
These are bite-sized pieces of chocolate filled with marshmallow cream, and I need you to just trust me when I say they are weirdly addicting, but in a good way. The best of both worlds, when it comes to Easter candy.
Unlike Peeps, which are around in some permutation all year long, Peeps Milk looks like it's going to be an Easter-only type of deal, so if you feel like you even sort of want to try it, now is the time. I mean, hey? What do you have to lose?
