Major Spoby Moments May Be Headed Our Way On 'PLL'

As much as I love seeing the Liars five years older and just a little bit wiser about all of the mysterious stalkers they seem to have (first "A," now uber "A"?), there is one thing that breaks my heart every time I watch Season 6B of Pretty Little Liars: the lack of Spoby. While I was also heartbroken over the end of Haleb, I have always held a soft spot for Toby and Spencer's relationship. Maybe it's because of their natural chemistry, or because they always seemed to somehow "get" each other despite their enormous differences — but there was always something about Spencer and Toby that felt very right. Spencer and Toby have been over for years, and both exes are now with other people — Spencer, for instance, is with Hanna's OTP Caleb, and it's crushing my soul. However, Spoby shippers might not want to lose hope just yet, because new photos from the Pretty Little Liars Season 6B finale "Hush, Hush, Sweet Liars" reveal that we're at least seeing one Spoby moment.

If you've been anxiously awaiting the revival of Spoby, then it seems like "Hush, Hush, Sweet Liars" will at least put these two in the same room. Though nothing has been confirmed, the photos look like Spencer and Toby are hanging out somewhere on election day — perhaps at a victory party for Veronica Hastings, who is running for U.S. Senate.

The odd thing about this scene is that, if it is a victory party — or a pre-victory/pre-loss party — it's odd that Toby is hanging out with Spencer and not his girlfriend, Yvonne. Yvonne's own mother is running against Veronica for senator, and I can't imagine she would be that pleased to find out that Toby is spending part of such a pivotal day palling around with his ex-girlfriend.

Of course, we fans can't get our hopes up too high: the phone that Spencer has pressed against her ear makes me think that she may be working a plan to stop Uber A right at this very moment. Since Spencer just told Toby that A is back in town — at least, some version of A — there's a possibility that Toby is assisting in an A-related plan. While they may be falling back into old habits, it might not be as romantic as Spoby shippers would hope.

Still, Spoby fans shouldn't lose all faith: I have full confidence that this couple is endgame, and here's hoping that after some time, this ship returns to port.
