Designer Zac Posen is responsible for providing celebrities with some of their most glamorous red carpet looks, from Rihanna and Anna Kendrick to Gwyneth Paltrow and January Jones. But now, even non-famous, average-looking brides-to-be will have a chance to wear one of the designer's fabulous creations down the aisle, thanks to Posen's new collection for David's Bridal.
Posen's debut bridal collection, called Truly Zac Posen, launches February 6. It will include seven wedding dresses and ten occasion wear pieces, with sizes ranging from 0 through 26. The collection will feature a variety of styles, including sweeping, mermaid-style floor-length gowns to shorter, white cocktails dresses.
Not only will Posen's line come in plus sizes, but it will also be super affordable — wedding dresses will start at $850 and cap off at $1,350, while the occasion wear pieces will range from $195 to $225.
While the news of a plus-size Zac Posen gown is exciting, it's not totally surprising. After all, just last week, David's Bridal announced that they were giving their mannequins a makeover to look more realistic, which means they will have "thicker waists, saggier breasts and back fat."
It's truly refreshing to see a high end fashion designer create a budget-friendly, plus-size collection for the average woman. Hopefully this is the step in the right direction and many of his fellow designers will also follow suit.
Truly Zac Posen will be available exclusively in select international David's Bridal stores and online at DavidsBridal.com.
