How To Apply Liquid Bronzer For A Perfect Glow

by Jessica Willingham

First it was liquid blush, then liquid lipstick, and now liquid bronzer. The liquid formulation craze is taking over, and I couldn't be more stoked about it! If you want to jump on the liquid bronzer train, but are wondering how to apply liquid bronzer the right way, look no further.

First thing's first: Why choose a liquid bronzer over the traditional powder formulation? Liquid bronzers are great for naturally dry skin that might feel the burn during the warmer months. It's also great for mature or damaged skin, as it will create a hydrated and youthful glow. Overall, it's the most natural looking option if you want to appear sun-kissed. Sold yet?

You can use liquid bronzer in a ton of ways. Mix it in with your foundation or your primer for a "glow from within," or apply it on top of your foundation. You can use it as a highlight if you have darker skin, or even as a cream eyeshadow. The possibilities are endless.

To apply liquid bronzer correctly, I suggest taking a damp beauty sponge and gently pressing and rolling the liquid bronzer across the apples of your cheeks and your cheekbones. (The damp beauty sponge will help pick up the the liquid bronzer product better, instead of just being totally sucked up by the sponge.) To even out the look, apply it around your temples and the hairline of your forehead.

If you don't have a beauty sponge handy (you really should — they'll change your life!) I suggest just using good old fashioned clean hands over a brush. Brush bristles can sometimes cause streaks and unevenness, but the heat from your fingers will melt the product seamlessly into your skin.

Here are two of my favorite simple ways for how to use liquid bronzer:

1. Underneath Highlighter & Blush

This video from beauty vlogger Leighannsays will show you how to layer highlighter and blush over your liquid bronzer (the one she uses is from Estee Lauder).

2. As A Contour

This video, from Benefit Cosmetics, shows you how to contour using their Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer for a natural-looking glow.
