The Oscars Red Carpet Was Full Of Disney
Love 'em or hate 'em, but you can't escape 'em: The 2016 Oscars were filled with Disney princesses (or at least inspired by them), from Alicia Vikander, to Saoirse Ronan, to Mindy Kaling. I'm thinking tonight's theme is low-key Disney. But if we're being serious, it seems like every day is a Disney day. Who doesn't want to step on the red carpet looking like a Disney princess? Certainly not me.
The Oscars is one of the biggest nights of fashion, where actors, actresses, singers, and influencers all gather and dress to impress. While some of the other award shows during the season are less formal and dramatic, the Oscars are the night to go all out, so gowns are usually all the rage. And apparently, so is Disney!
Fan-favorite Alicia Vikander has been killing it this award season, rocking Louis Vuitton on every red carpet and absolutely slaying. And tonight, she's giving us some serious Belle vibes in her yellow gown with jeweled embellishments. With her hair in a half bun and curls, she was practically a Belle doppelganger.
But who wore it better, Belle, or Vikander? I'm going to have to say both.
Looks like we weren't the only ones that thought so!
Next up, our girl Saoirse Ronan, who gave major Little Mermaid vibes in her gorgeous sequined custom Calvin Klein dress. Yes, Ronan, you can definitely be part of our world.
Ariel, Saoirse just wants to be part of your world!
And if that weren't enough, Mindy Kaling looked insanely elegant in an off-the-shoulder blue gown, looking like our favorite ice queen, Elsa. Do we want to build a snowman? In that dress — We want to do everything.
Do we want to build a snowman? In that dress — We want to do everything.
Next on the roster is Heidi Klum — Bless Heidi, for always serving us princess vibes. Tonight, she looked just like Rapunzel from Tangled, looking super pretty in a lavender and purple gown.
Plus, with that gorgeous hair, she could totally be Rapunzel.
Let's talk about Brie Larson, though, for a second. In a stunning royal blue dress, she totally reminded us of an older, more matured Cinderella.
With her super fluffy, ball-gown silhouetted bottom half, she looked like she was ready for the ball. Just don't lose your shoes, Brie!
But aside from gowns — The make up looks were pretty Disney-fied, as well. Case in point: Rooney Mara, whose dark, dramatic beauty gives the Evil Queen a run for her money.
Not technically a Princess, but more importantly, a queen.
Did all of these celebs get together and secretly decide that they'd all dress for a Disney-themed evening? We will never know, but we're certainly not complaining. For an evening with a more serious tone, it was refreshing to see some playful, cheerful looks. There can never be too much Disney!
