Few things make me happier in this world than a Disney Channel original movie (or, as I like to call it, a DCOM). They are so reassuring and fun — perfect for when you need a pick me up with a double-helping of nostalgia. Trying to decide which Disney Channel original movie to watch is the hard part, though. Do you stick with your tried and true favorite? Try the latest one with the hip young star? Or spend hours searching for Zenon: The Zequel on streaming sites? If that all sounds exhausting, then get your DCOM on by consulting the stars.
I know, I know, not everyone is into the zodiac, but whether you are a believer or not, matching your zodiac sign to a DCOM is just inherently fun. You know you are curious to see if your favorite movie will match your sign or if you will discover a DCOM you've never watched before. From Halloweentown to Descendants, each DCOM has its own personality, just like you do. It only makes sense that you have a DCOM soulmate out there, just waiting to be discovered.
Let fate — and my not so expert zodiac knowledge — help you decide what DCOM to watch. What do you have to lose? Everyone knows there is no such thing as a bad DCOM.
Aries (March 21 — April 19): Motocrossed
Adventure is the Aries' buzzword, and you can't get much more adventurous than Motocrossed. You will be immediately sucked into the story when Andrea secretly defies her father's wishes and joins the motocross race in her twin brother's place. Andrea is as fiercely independent as you are, and she puts all of her energy into becoming the best racer she can be. Any Aries will be able to relate to Andrea, and the motocross scenes are bound to get your blood pumping.
Taurus (April 20 — May 20): Read It And Weep
Even though you don't always let it show, as a Taurus, you have an intensely private life. Stubbornness often keeps you from letting people in, which is why you need Read It and Weep in your life. Jamie creates an alter ego for herself who is popular and rules the school — but things get messy when her fantasy life and reality collide. Learn from Jamie's mistakes and prepare to get a little teary eyed along the way.
Gemini (May 21 — June 20): Invisible Sister
The sign of the twin, Geminis are known for being moody — but the truth is, you are just always in touch with what you are feeling. Invisible Sister lets you go on a journey with two sisters who have very different personalities, and are offered the unique opportunity to understand each other better. Funny and emotional, this DCOM will hit close to home for Geminis.
Cancer (June 21 — July 22): Tru Confessions
Cancers are all about family, friends, and showing affection. They will cry buckets of tears while watching twins Tru and Eddie navigate life together. A touching story of autism, siblings, and the beauty of putting family first is sure to give the old heart strings a tug.
Leo (July 23 — August 22): The Cheetah Girls
Fabulous and bold Leos need The Cheetah Girls in their lives. A group of amazing young women on the brink of fame singing pop songs that you won't be able to get out of your head? This is not a dream, Leos, this is real life, and you need to go witness the perfection for yourself immediately.
Virgo (August 23 — September 22): Smart House
One of the smartest and most analytical signs of the zodiac needs a movie that will tap into your inner sci-fi junkie. Smart House has a Disney-approved message at its core, but the story of a futuristic house holding a family hostage doesn't seem so far-fetched in the days of endless gadgets. Let your imagination run wild with a movie that only seems harmless on the surface.
Libra (September 23 — October 22): Avalon High
Libras love a little bit of everything, and that's why a movie with high school drama and epic battles in Avalon is perfect for you. There is action, romance, heroics, and so, so much more. All of the boxes on your interests list are guaranteed to be ticked.
Scorpio (October 23 — November 21): Zenon: Girl Of The 21st Century
Zenon brought her awesomeness to Earth and really didn't care when no one appreciated her cool slang and tech smarts. She is a Scorpio through and through — just like you, Zenon is way more interested in being herself than in impressing anyone else.
Sagittarius (November 22 — December 21): Gotta Kick It Up!
Someone as caring and loyal as a Sagittarius needs a movie that revels in strong friendships and bonds between women. Gotta Kick It Up! is definitely that movie. The perseverance of the girls will inspire you, and the movie's heart is almost as big as yours.
Capricorn (December 22 — January 19): Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior
Wendy Wu is proof you can have it all, Capricorns. The ambitious teen is both the Homecoming Queen and a legendary warrior. Let her be your inspiration the next time you find yourself multi-tasking like the hardworking champ you are.
Aquarius (January 20 — February 18): Halloweentown
As an Aquarius you are unique. You love what you love, and sometimes that happens to be an obscure anime no one else has ever heard of it. That's what makes you awesome though. Marnie will be your new life hero as you watch her embrace everything that makes her special — plus, there is the added bonus of Halloween goodness.
Pisces (February 19 — March 20): Descendants
The most sensitive of all the signs, as a Pisces you will absolutely love watching two disparate group of teens becoming friends in Descendants. Since you've never met a stranger, you will cheer watching the villains' kids bond with the kids of Auradon Prep. Don't be surprised if the fairy tale themes end up making you swoon too. In other words, prepare to feel all the emotions.
I hope the stars pointed you to your DCOM soulmate, or at the very least gave you a few more movies to add to your to watch list.
