Tom Hardy & Charlotte Riley Are The Cutest Couple
Even if you haven't seen Tom Hardy cuddling puppies or shutting down sexist questions on red carpets, you'll know him off-camera soon enough — believe me. The British actor, who rose to prominence thanks to his breakthrough performance in 2010's Inception and as the title character in 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road, is up for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar at this year's Academy Awards for his work opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant. (While the Oscar nom is Tom's first, his two films, The Revenant and Mad Max: Fury Road, are up for an unbelievable 22 Academy Awards.) But, though Hardy is a phenomenal actor, it's really his relationship with his wife, Charlotte Riley, that's got me at total fangirl status. Hardy met his wife, Riley (an actor who you'll likely recognize from 2014's Edge of Tomorrow), on the set of Wuthering Heights in 2009, and the London-based couple welcomed their first child together in October. It's a classic Hollywood love story!
In addition to their acting chops and classic good looks, here's yet another reason to love this couple: They take a decidedly un-Kardashian-esque approach to self-promotion. Tom is no less press-shy when it comes to his movies: As GQ noted earlier this month, "He's largely been absent from the annual frog march of awards luncheons, champagne toasts, press junkets, industry panels, and movie-critic meet-and-greets considered crucial awards-season obligations for nominees in the run-up toward the Oscars telecast." Though you might not catch them posting selfies together on Instagram anytime soon, here's 13 more reasons the couple now officially known as Tharlette (or should it be Chom?) is sure to win the Oscars red carpet.
