Emma Watson Used To Hate This Facial Feature
I know you read this headline and you were like — say whaaaat? How can a woman like Emma Watson have a beauty insecurity? Not only is she known and loved for her role as Hermione Granger, winning our hearts from the years 2001 to...lets say, forever, but she's also a pretty badass feminist. And on top of that, it doesn't hurt that she's drop dead gorgeous.
I rarely use that term, because it's pretty extreme, but come on. Ever since I was a little girl watching the Harry Potter movies, I always wanted to be her friend and braid that frizzy mane of hers. And as the years have gone by, she has only continued to blossom. No doubt — she's gifted genetically, but perhaps why I (and most people) find her so beautiful is her confidence. Nothing beats confidence.
So it may come as a surprise that Watson actually does have a beauty insecurity. What's that saying? Stars....they're just like us. They have good days and bad days, and sometimes, they don't feel one hundred. We've all been there. In an interview with Gloria Steinem, the actress told her that she was not a fan of her strong eyebrows when she was younger. "I used to hate that I had strong eyebrows. As a nine-year-old I desperately wanted to pluck them and make them two thin lines," Watson said.
Oh, the early 2000s, when thin eyebrows were all the rage. We've all been there. And as a result, most of us have over-plucked. I have at least, and miss those thick beasts like no other. Watson did go on to say, "My mother desperately tried to tell me that they gave my face character, don't be ashamed." Hell yeah, Mama Watson.
And now, at 25 years old, she ought to thank her mom for the advice! Watson's got some of the fiercest brows in the game.
Just casually smoldering someone with this look and these brows.
Quiz: What's better? The top, or her brows?
Makeup: fierce. Outfit: fiercer. Eyebrows: fiercest.
Here's Emma giving us some badass vibes, and it's totally working.
Side profile — still on fleek.
Giving us a little Posh Spice here. Should I keep going? Ok, one more.
So I guess this is what it feels like to look at a perfect being? Got it.
Emma, if these are bushy brows, we'll absolutely take 'em. There is something so comforting hearing about other women's insecurities, especially those that we look up to. Perhaps the biggest takeaway from all this is that Watson has sent the message that hey, you may feel insecure about something about yourself, but that's actually what makes you special. And that, I can definitely get on board with.
