With a name like "Harry Styles," it would be... just wrong... if the singer didn't have a sweet coif. It goes with the territory of having a name that sounds like "hairstyles" and the fact that he is a cultural influencer as a member of One Direction. Harry Styles' hair in 2013 was something over which Directioners and anyone with functioning eyes could marvel. Styles' hair has changed and evolved over time, but he was quite the lock star in 2013. That may very well have been his best hair year so far. But yeah, that's up for debate amongst his legion of female fans.
At times in 2013, the adorable singer favored blown back, shaggy, and curly looks that were certainly achieved with the assistance of a stylist and tools.
At other times, he rocked insanely rumpled (but never sloppy) strands. You know, the "I just rolled out of bed" kind. It was effortlessly messy, as if he grabbed some mousse, scrunched it in his strands, and went about his way.
While Styles spent much of 2014 and 2015 growing out his glossy brown locks to their longest length yet, I am stuck on Harry's hair in 2013... because it was just so awesome.

1. Big & Blown Out
Blowouts are not the domain of women seeking straight strands! His hair was big and blown out here. That height had to be achieved by a big, round barrel brush, yo.
2. Wuthering Heights
The singer really was all about height and volume when it came to his hair during this phase/period/year.

No limp locks on Harry's head! Styles was pumping up the volume with his hair, be it on the stage or at events.

Styles was still rocking some height with his hair, but it was also a bit more beadhead-like. It was a wonderful contrast to the clean lines of his snazzy suit.
Seriously, "big hair, don't care" was his unspoken mantra.
5. Keith Richards Inspo
Styles was rocking headbands in 2013 and it felt like his homage to Rolling Stones' guitarist and fellow Brit Keith Richards.

That was quite a perfect pouf. It was a work of follicle art.
7. The Quintessential 2013 Coif
This was pretty much his quintessential coif for much of 2013 — that is, messy, textured, and sexy.

What was best about his curly hair blown back off his face? You could see more of his eyes and his smile.

Notice how the familiar rumpled coif could look a little different with some texturizing and piecey-ness?

The more I look at it, it's as though this coif made him resemble a modern James Dean.
11. Gratuitous Cute Curl Shot
Even former bandmate Zayn Malik couldn't keep his eyes off Hazza's hair. Perhaps that's the real reason Malik bounced. He could no longer contain his jealousy over Styles' strands.
