6 Ways To Simplify Your Morning Routine

by Irma Elezovic

There are two types of people in this world: happy morning people and those who have a love-hate (but mainly hate) relationship with their snooze button. If you fall in the latter category, your mornings are probably a bit chaotic, and there's never enough time to feel truly put-together. You start with good intentions, but given your half-asleep state, you're forced to do the bare minimum to look presentable and rush out the door, leaving your room in total disarray. While we can't adjust your biological clock and turn you into a happy-go-lucky morning person, we can offer some tips on how to simplify your morning routine.

First thing: Shorten your morning to-do list. It will be much easier to roll out of bed knowing you have three or four fewer things to do than usual. And since we know how difficult it can be to prioritize, we've teamed up with the Samsung Gear S2 Classic to do it for you. Now you can start your day off in a better frame of mind, knowing there's time to shower, put on a full face of makeup, and still have your massive (but very necessary) cup of coffee.

Plan Your Outfit The Night Before

One of the best ways to simplify your morning routine is to prepare as much as possible the night before. And before you roll your eyes at me for suggesting such a simple task, I urge you to try it. Set aside a few minutes each night and plan your outfit down to the detail. Lay out your shoes and accessories, pack your purse, and make sure everything's pressed, because ironing in the morning is a risky task when you're half asleep. Doing this will allow you to avoid last-minute surprises like "Where are my tights?!" At the end of the day, why wouldn't you want to know what your outfit will look like ahead of time?

Stay Organized And Connected While You're Getting Ready

Set your alarms, check your calendar, and call an Uber — all with your wrist. With the Samsung Gear S2, you'll discover endless ways to organize your life and make your mornings a little easier. What's the weather like today? Check your wrist. Did I get any important emails overnight? Check your ... well, you know.

Ditch Your Lipstick And Blush For A Lip And Cheek Duo

Gone are the days of intricate beauty routines. People are ditching their overly complicated contour palettes for simple bronzer and highlight sticks — and the same applies to old-school lip and blush products. Pick a two-in-one balm like the Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm to shave some serious minutes off your morning routine. Bonus: Your lips will feel soft and fresh, and the balm will give your cheeks a subtle flush.

Use Foundation With SPF

We all know the importance of SPF, but most of us simply don't have the time (or energy) to slather on sunscreen every day. So pick a foundation or tinted moisturizer that already includes it. You'll save a few minutes — and your precious skin — each morning.

Style Your Hair While You Sleep

I can't tell you the number of times I've gone to bed thinking I'd wake up early enough to do my hair. And I can't tell you the amount of times I've ended up at work in a messy bun instead. (OK, it's probably four out of five weekdays.) A fun little trick that'll guarantee gorgeous, wavy hair is to sleep in braids. After you've towel-dried your hair, braid it any which way and hit the bed. When you wake up, let them out, give your hair a little shake, and marvel at your stunning new locks.

Brew Coffee The Night Before

A morning without coffee is no morning at all. And what's better than coffee? Iced coffee. An easy way save time and still get a jolt of caffeine is by making overnight iced coffee the night before. Let it chill in the fridge overnight and prepare to wake up in the morning to happily sip!
