James Kennedy Knows The Whole Vanderpump Family

Most of the cast of Vanderpump Rules have been friends for a while, but how do James Kennedy & Lisa Vanderpump know each other? Last season, it was explained that Lisa was friends with James' parents, and did them a favor by hiring him at SUR. James described how he first got into music in an interview on the Vanderpump Rules after show, shown below. And the story is a pretty simple one: he fell in love with music as a kid, and after finding his calling as a DJ when living in Ibiza, he moved to Los Angeles, where he started at SUR.

However, his parents' history with Lisa wasn't enough to get James the top spot on his first day. He had to work his way up from busboy to house DJ, paying his dues like the other SUR employees. However, James also mentioned in the below interview that Lisa's husband, Ken Todd, is now managing his music career. Oh, and then there's the fact that James is very close friends with Lisa and Ken's son, Max. With all of these connections, it shouldn't be surprising that the SUR boss sometimes has a bit of a soft spot for James, or that he recently posted an Instagram saying that Lisa inspires him.

It seems that Max has also recently gone from James' friend to collaborator, as James also mentioned in his interview that Max will be contributing to his album. "Lisa's son will be featured on my album. Max is actually one of the most talented guitar players I've ever met in my life," he said.

The Vanderpumps may have started out as family friends of James, but it seems they're building professional connections now too.
