10 Products Every Beauty Aficionado Should Own
If you are a regular reader of beauty blogs or makeup artist interviews, you know that some of the same product names get dropped time and time again. While that's probably due in part to some cosmetics companies' relentless PR efforts, in most cases the products genuinely are the best.
Here are the top 10 products you should probably try at least once in your life, if you’re serious about your makeup.
Bioderma Crealine
There’s a reason you can spot this familiar pink-lid bottle backstage at every fashion show: it’s truly the best makeup remover ever. Gentle on the eyes (great for sensitive types) and oil free (so it can be applied without removing lash extensions), it still removes waterproof makeup easier than anything else out there. Previously only available in fancy French pharmacies, you can now snap it up on Amazon.
Kiehl’s Creme De Corps
Don’t ask us why, Crème De Corps is just is the best. Okay, it’s probably because the lotion is enriched with beta-carotene for antioxidant protection, cocoa butter for divinely soft skin, and squalene, a fast-absorbing oil that creates the most supple finish.
Diorshow
If you’re more of a drugstore girl, we’ll also accept Maybelline Great Lash here. So many brands have tried to replicate the success of these two lash heroes, with pulsating mechanics or wavy wands, but sometimes the originals just can’t be beat. Think perfectly curvaceous and lengthened lashes every time. All hail the Diorshow.
Eos lip balm
Pretty much every celeb carries one. Eos balms are awesome because of their easy-to-apply shape, ample product (bang for you buck, woo!) and delectable flavors. The balm is also packed with natural ingredients full of antioxidants for smooth, healthy lips.
Elnett
There was a rumor a few years back that L’Oreal was discontinuing beloved fashion and red carpet staple Elnett. Cue stylists around the globe freaking out. It was just a rumor, thankfully, because this hairspray still runs circles around all of its competitors. We love it because you can quickly build up a strong hold that lasts for hours, with natural shine, but it brushes out easily at the end of the day.
Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream
Not everyone is a fan of the 8 Hour cream’s very noticeable smell, but it is still beloved. Miz Arden created this product herself, and it has about 10,000 uses. Okay, that’s a slight exaggeration, but you get the picture.
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm
Before primers were a thing, there was Beauty Flash Balm. Debuted in 1980, it’s still a favorite of makeup artists and women everywhere for its intensely moisturizing and skin perfecting effect pre-foundation and its instant pick-me-up effect on bare skin.
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick
Another trailblazer that spurred a thousand copies. You haven’t seen perfectly glowy cheeks if you haven’t tried the Shimmer Brick. It’s like an Instagram filter for your face, and it comes in a variety of shades to suit everyone’s skin type. Plus, this writer has about 10 grillion eyeshadows, but this cheek palette’s individual shades are still her go-to for creating the perfect metallic lid.
Nars Blush in Orgasm
There are a bunch of Nars products that could have made this list because they’re all ridiculously amazing, but Orgasm wins every time. It has the best texture, the right amount of matte and shimmer particles and suits every skin tone. If you’re more partial to a cream blush, you can also grab Orgasm in the crème multiple.
