Hannah & Adam Could Reunite On 'Girls'

by Kelly Schremph

There are some couples who break up and never see each other again. But then there are other couples who keep getting pulled back to each other like moths to a flame. I've always thought of Hannah's relationship with Adam on Girls as falling into the latter category. Because no matter how much they think they've moved on or how miserable they've made each other in the past, they can't seem to stay out of each other's lives. Of course, that's bound to happen when you travel in the same friend circles, but now that the Girls Season 5 premiere is about to debut, I can't help wondering if that means we'll eventually see Hannah and Adam get back together at some point during the season.

Last we saw, Hannah was in a happy (and surprisingly healthy) relationship with Fran Parker, a history teacher that she met in school. And judging from what we've seen in the trailer, their romance is still going strong. (Though thankfully, it's not coming in-between her super close friendship with Elijah because priorities, people!) However, that's not to say that Hannah's dating world will stay in a state of bliss. I mean, when does it ever? And since Adam has made it known that he still has feelings for her, Hannah might find herself falling down a very familiar looking rabbit hole once again.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure that's what I want to see happen. I've never exactly been a huge fan of Adam's right from the start. But there have been times when I've seen these two make each other better people, so I'm not completely against the idea. I just don't want to see either of them fall back into the same self-destructing patterns in the process.

However, it doesn't look like Fran will end up being the only obstacle that'll need to be overcome in order to get these two lovebirds back together again. Adam and Jessa became the closest they've ever been during Season 4 — a bond that I'm sure will be explored in greater depth in the episodes to come. In fact, according to a recent review from TVLine, "Jessa tries to stifle her attraction to Adam as a show of loyalty to Hannah — with occasionally 'watch through your fingers' results."

I don't care if Hannah was the one to reject Adam or not, this definitely has the potential to seriously damage Hannah and Jess' friendship to an extent we've never seen before. Jealousy can be a powerful thing and could very well be the catalyst that helps motivate Hannah's desire to take Adam back. I'd hate to see these two ladies lose their friendship over a guy, but given the trajectory this storyline appears to be heading, I'm starting to fear the worst. Let's just hope these two BFFs can survive the fallout.
