Shailene Woodley Has The Smallest Closet Ever
While some celebrities are focused on growing their wardrobes, this woman is getting rid of everything she owns — literally. Shailene Woodley went backpacking with only four clothing items, according to InStyle, and apparently she's never been happier. Her lifestyle might be unconventional, but it's taught her some pretty awesome tips about beauty.
It's not every day you hear from a star who cares more about living his or her life to the fullest rather than owning expensive things, but Woodley is doing just that. In an interview with InStyle, the Allegiant star talked about living a possession-free lifestyle, which, yes, also includes paring down her clothing. Woodley backpacked throughout Europe and India with only a pair of leggings, sweatpants, long-sleeve shirt, and a shawl. The essentials!
“I think we have such an attachment to ‘Ah, I’m going to need this’ or ‘I should bring this just in case,'" Woodley told InStyle. "But the most beautiful moments I had were when I was stuck in the rain and had no raincoat and ended up laughing because what could have been an everyday experience of it raining in London turned into this hilarious adventure of being soaking wet and having to borrow someone’s dryer to dry my clothes.”
It turns out that this star doesn't live with much more than that, either. Three years ago she gave up her cellphone, her car, and more to focus on not being as attached to her belongings. Can you imagine any other stars (I'm looking at you, Kardashians) trying to do that? I think not.
Woodley's lifestyle has given her more than just freedom, too. She has some fabulous all-natural beauty tips that are awesome. From oil pulling to eating clay, she got a secret for just about everything. Here's a few of her best beauty secrets.
1. Oil Pulling
Nutiva Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, $19.50, AdvantageNutrition.com
When the oil pulling trend first came out, Woodley was all all about it. The beauty treatment involves swishing around coconut oil in your mouth for 20 minutes to get rid of toxins.
2. Eating Clay
Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay, $4.45, ThriveMarket.com
Apparently this helps remove toxins from the body, but might I suggest treating yourself to a nice face mask instead?
3. DIY Toothpaste
Now Foods Essential Oils Variety Pack, $23, Groupon.com
Woodley makes her own tooth paste out of clay, coconut oil, and essential oils, according to GQ.
4. Beet Lip Stain
Del Monte Canned Beets, $1.09, eCrater.com
Apparently all you have to do is roast some beets to get fabulous lip stain. It doesn't get much cheaper or healthier than that!
5. Spirulina Eyeshadow
Nutrex Pure Hawaiian Spirulina, $15, iherb.com
The actresses uses the green Spirulina powder, an all-natural diet supplement, as eyeshadow when she needs a little color.
6. Seabuckthorn Makeup Remover
Sea Buckthorn Oil, $20, LivingLibations.com
This natural oil is used for cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing all in one. Woodley also uses it to remove her makeup, according to the Daily Makeover.
7. Arrowroot Powder Deoderant

All you'll need is arrowroot powder, coconut oil, and baking soda to create Woodley's all-natural deodorant. Bet you didn't know it was that easy!
