After keeping fans guessing for more than a month, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin's relationship status just got much more clear. Well, kind of. In his cover story for GQ's March issue, Bieber refers to Baldwin as "someone I really love." He also admits, "We spend a lot of time together." Naturally, this seems to confirm their relationship, right? Not so fast. E! News caught up with Baldwin, who shared her side of the story. She told E!,
We are not an exclusive couple. He's about to go on tour. Relationships at this age are already complicated, but I don't really like to talk about it because it's between me and him.
She went on to say how hard it is to have her life out in the open. Baldwin explained, "It really is my personal business. And I like to think my relationships are not between me the person and the whole entire world. It's hard." Honestly, it makes sense that she wants to keep some things private, especially something so personal. Considering the kinds of threats Selena Gomez received when she dated Bieber, I imagine it's a bit overwhelming to date such a huge pop star, with everyone constantly trying to analyze your every date.
While on the one hand, I entirely understand Baldwin's plea for privacy, it's a bit hard to keep things from the entire world when you post photos making out with somebody. Blame Bieber for that, but when he shared an Instagram of them kissing, obviously that was going to raise people's eyebrows. Of course, they shouldn't have to alter their lives for the public's discretion, but I just mean it's hard to keep a relationship underwraps when you share those intimate moments with your millions of Insta followers.
Anyway, based on all of the above, Bieber and Baldwin aren't an exclusive couple, but they're certainly together in some capacity. At least that's what Baldwin's comments imply, and it's a relief to finally have a more definitive answer. It also makes sense that with a tour coming up, Bieber is going to be all over the place, so it would make a long-distance relationship tricky.
Interestingly enough, although Baldwin and Bieber "spend a lot of time together," that won't be the case on Valentine's day — or it sure doesn't sound like it. She told E!, "I'm going to just eat a lot of food and have a great day." Know what? That sounds like a perfect plan!
