These Platform Shoe Styles Ruled The 90s

by May Sofi

In case you haven't noticed, the '90s are making a major comeback in today's fashion world. Whether it's designers like Rihanna for Puma showing grungy looks on the runway, or celebrities like Vanessa Hudgens and Kendall Jenner paying homage to the decade in mom jeans and velvet chokers, the wildly stylish decade has definitely become relevant again. As someone who was born and raised in the '90s, the era of all things denim and leather will always hold a special place in my heart, so I'm totally on board with this resurgence.

Looking back on the '90s now, certain iconic style trends immediately come to mind. Shiny leather and oversized plaid totally ruled '90s fashion (hello Clueless), but perhaps the one style that most dominated the decade was the platform shoe. You know you're a '90s kid when you have fond of memories of wearing out your double-decker flatforms (read: flat platforms). You know, those chunky sneakers that the Spice Girls wore all the time? Of course you remember. How about those Steve Madden creeper sandals with the thick stretchy band? My tween-aged self never left the house without those bad boys.

Let's take a trip down memory lane and reminisce over all the awesome platformed footwear that we obsessed over in the '90s.
