When it comes to Super Bowl 50 commercials, Marvel definitely isn't shying away, including that Coca-Cola ad starring the Hulk and Ant-Man. Is there more than meets the eye with the ad? Is The Hulk in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War? Seeing as it's been reported that Bruce Banner, a.k.a. the Hulk, won't be in Captain America: Civil War, is this Marvel's way of saying, "Hey, just kidding," or is this just a way to show some love to the big, green superhero who will be missed in the new movie? Basically, the ad is stirring up a lot of questions.
There really isn't a definitive answer either way, but as Mashable reports, Emmanuel Segue, Coca-Cola's senior vice president of content, said there are "Easter eggs" throughout the commercial that will please fans. Plus, it's a way for the Hulk to do a good deed and educate younger individuals about choosing healthier, less sugary options by drinking smaller serving drink sizes. "It's a David and Goliath-style clash between two of the most iconic Marvel heroes," Seuge said. "Those are characters that are extremely appealing to the young adult target so it seemed to us a very natural to partner with them."
See? The Hulk may come off kind of scary, but he's a good guy who's all about living a healthy lifestyle. Who knew? As for whether or not he'll be in the next Captain America or soon be featured in another of his own films, well, never say never. After all, he will be in Thor 3.
I'm sure if he is going to make an appearance in Civil War, it's probably going to be kept on the down low. That'd make for one great surprise, especially since he isn't expected to show up.
But, I don't really think people should read too much into the Coke commercial, because it just seems like the Hulk is trying to promote, well, Coke. And, the ad is a great way to bring him back into fans' lives. Thanks, Coca-Cola.
