Jennifer Lawrence has really never been more relatable. You know how you bought that new top last week, or those new jeans, only to spill food or, say, accidentally get some Dorito dust on them when you were wearing them out for the first time? Well, turns out, J.Law is exactly like that — she really is one of us. According to Vanity Fair, Jennifer Lawrence apparently ruined some American Hustle dresses with Doritos, because she was not adverse to eating the chips while she was decked out in costume during production.
Costume desginer Michael Wilkinson, who's nominated for an Oscar for his work on the film, explained: Four different versions of Jennifer Lawrence's dress during the climactic party scene when J.Law's character confronts Amy Adams' character were designed, because J.Law was originally supposed to spill champagne all over herself. That didn't end up happening, but, according to Wilkinson, it was still good that they had some back-up dresses: "Jennifer Lawrence is a very . . . let’s say . . . raw and intuitive young lady, and she’s not against eating Doritos and snack food in her costume. So we were glad that we had a couple [backups]."
Luckily, Wilkinson wanted the dresses to look cheap and stretchy, that he went with fabric that was only $3.99 a yard — producing four dresses wasn't that expensive at all.
Seriously though, J.Law? Just like us.
