I’m one of those people who watches the Super Bowl for the commercials. It’s not that I don’t care about football, but I really don’t care about football that much. Super Bowl Sunday is an amazing example of American capitalism — it’s the day that all advertisers dream of. Making its Super Bowl commercial debut this year is Buick, and as a part of its rebranding strategy, they’ve tapped New York Giant Odell Beckham, Jr. and one up-and-coming starlet to shake it a little in the ad spot. Unfamiliar big game commercial aficionados might be wondering who the woman in the Buick Super Bowl ad is. But some pop music fans will recognize her as Emily Ratajkowski, star of music video and screen.
The fact that Buick is choosing Ratajkowski to help market their brand to a younger audience isn’t surprising. Her career has blown up in recent years, and she definitely has the affections of many. Ratajkowski first made a splash in the hot-mess-turned-music-video for “Blurred Lines,” where she kind of just stood there half-naked in front of Robin Thicke and Pharrell. I’m not judging — I’m just stating the facts. Ratajkowski later told InStyle UK that the video was “the bane of her existence.” Though it definitely got her a role in Gone Girl, I can’t fault the girl for not wanting to be known as “the girl from the ‘Blurred Lines’ music video.”
Like I said, Ratajkowski starred as Andie, Ben Affleck’s mistress, in Gone Girl, and then later went on to star aside Zac Efron in the EDM movie We Are Your Friends. According to Ratajkowski's IMDB page, she’s currently working on something called Cruise , probably between filming commercials for Buick with a hot football player. Ratajkowski also is a model, pulling in covers like InStyle UK.
While those are Ratajkowski’s stats, I want to know what she’s like as a person. I pulled on my best Internet stalker pants and perused her social media channels to see what she’s all about.

She may be a model and an actress, but don’t pigeonhole her with any stereotypes. Given her outrage in the wrongs of the world and her desire to engage in philanthropic efforts around the globe, I’m going to venture a guess and say that this gal’s got dreams that don’t just involve getting her picture taken.
Ratajkowski may have starred opposite Zac Efron and Ben Affleck and she may be traveling around the world modeling and eating my favorite things, but a look at her social media and she’s just like many millennial I know — hungry, political, and ready for world domination.
