12 Super Bowl Recipes For Two

by Jessica Learish

You've pretty much decided not to invite anybody over for the Super Bowl this year, but you're obviously watching the game, whether it be for the commercials, the halftime show, or the gridiron action. These Super Bowl recipes for two will keep you feeling festive without the added undertaking of having an actual party. Why would you spend a perfectly good Sunday morning whizzing around cleaning, decorating, and putting the finishing touches on your buffet when you could easily sleep in and watch the game in sweatpants?

I don't know about you, but I find it incredibly challenging to cook "for two." That's probably because I was raised in the South where every recipe is intended to feed the entire neighborhood, but I do recognize the upside to cooking in smaller batches. First of all, it's cheaper. But my favorite part about cooking game day food for just two people is that you can afford to get a little fancier with the presentation and prep because you're not preparing seven-gallon vats of chili and plating everyone's food one at a time.

Add a couple of these recipes to your game day grocery list, and you'll be ready for kickoff in no time.

1. Black Bean And Guacamole Burritos

If you're cooking for a whole bunch of people, burritos should not make it onto your menu because they are a huge pain in the butt to roll one at a time. But when you're cooking for just two people, you should absolutely make burritos! Check out these healthy and zesty grilled burritos from Naturally Ella.

2. BBQ Chicken Burgers

Guys, this picture just made me insanely hungry. In my opinion, making burgers for hoards of people is an exercise in frustration as it's pretty tough to keep a dozen patties (all with different cook time preferences) straight. Grilling chicken is a little easier because there are only two phases — done and not done. When you're cooking for two, that's the perfect time to bust out with a gourmet burger recipe, and that's what we have here, coming at you from How Sweet It Is.

3. Football Pizza Pockets

Somebody needs to make these ASAP! This is the most creative Super Bowl food I've stumbled across to date, and their creator, Chef Billy Parisi, deserves a major touchdown dance. Make as many of these as you want to obsessively photograph and then eat.

4. BBQ Chicken Cornbread Pie

Yum yum yum yum. Table For Two must have created this masterpiece with just this article in mind. Mark my words, you and your football-watching partner will devour this thing by the third quarter.

5. BBQ Pineapple Jalapeño And Feta Pizza

I must be in a BBQ kind of mood right now, but holy cow, would you look at that pizza?! Cookie + Kate takes it to a whole new level with this spicy and sweet creation. Because your name is not Papa John and you don't have four ovens, I don't see many people going for it and making pizzas for a party's worth of people, but for two — you can and should do that.

6. Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Remember what I said about the BBQ thing? I meant it. This crazy sandwich creation from Simply Delicious is so decadent, it almost qualifies as NSFW. Just look at that bread. This recipe is also perfectly set up with two sandwich servings, so... Bon Voyage!

7. Shrimp And Sausage Kabobs

Kabobs are fun to make, but do you actually want to sit there and skewer 30 kabobs worth of anything? Probably not, but, for only two people, that's worth it. Taste And Tell has the details on this juicy and deliciously grilled creation.

8. Teedo's Famous Salsa

I'm gonna go ahead and spill the beans on the secret ingredient in this recipe — it's avocados. That's pretty genius when you're trying to get a creamy and scoopable texture to your food processor salsa. Head on over to Table For Two to find out what other secrets this salsa is keeping as well as the answer to all important question... who is Teedo?

9. Sweet And Spicy Chicken Drumsticks

What would a Super Bowl recipe roundup be without chicken wings? This recipe calls for 20 drumsticks, but you could obviously cut it in half or in quarters to make a more modest sized meal for just the two of you. A Spicy Perspective will show you the way!

10. Honey Chipotle Chicken Poppers

This self-described at-home knockoff of Chili's honey chipotle chicken crispers is a healthier adaptation on the fan favorite chicken appetizer. And, naturally, because this recipe comes from Table For Two, the recipe is already designed for two people!

11. Caramelized Onion Dip

Sommer from A Spicy Perspective opens this post by suggesting that this onion dip recipe puts store-bought onion dip to shame, and I believe her. Seriously, somehow everything from this blog is a flavor-packed winner. If you're an onion dip guy or gal, I recommend giving this recipe a shot.

12. Football BBQ Chicken Bread Bowl Dip

What even is this art? If you make this dip for yourself and one other human, you win the Super Bowl, end of story. Chef Billy Parisi has the details!
