Teresa Heinz Kerry in Critical Condition
According to reports, Teresa Heinz Kerry — wife of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry — has been hospitalized for an unknown medical condition.
The 74-year-old was taken to a hospital in Nantucket Sunday via ambulance, where she's currently "in critical but stable condition," according to a hospital official.
Said a hospital authority, "At this point, we are determining the next phase of her care, be that either in our facility on the island, or on the mainland."
It's unknown whether the Secretary of State is at the Nantucket Cottage Hospital with Heinz Kerry.
The heiress of the Heinz fortune — who serves as the chair of The Heinz Endowments and the Heinz Family Philanthropies — gained notoriety for her candid nature during Kerry's 2004 presidential run. Heinz Kerry has suffered health problems in the past — in 2009, she announced that she was being treated for breast cancer.
