We Can't Forget Katy Perry's Super Bowl Outfits

You know what will be missing from this year's Super Bowl Halftime Show? Katy Perry. Yes, she who brought us a giant animatronic tiger, Left Shark, and those insane Super Bowl outfits will be sitting on the sidelines while Coldplay performs hits from their newest release alongside Beyonce and Bruno Mars. While this is great news if you're a Coldplay fan, I'd rather have Katy Perry's totally OTT costumes from last year's meme-generating mega-performance, which featured the singer belting her way through 13 minutes of vocal acrobatics, real acrobatics, and four costumes. That's an entirely new outfit about every three minutes, guys. Something tells me Coldplay's more pared-back performing style just ain't gonna compare.

Perry's cheesecake pinup-meets-Rainbow Brite style was the perfect respite from the Serious Business of the annual competition. Say what you will about the Katy Perry's music, but it can't be denied that she's a heck of a performer. It also appears that she sang at least some of the show live — which, if you consider the fact that Perry was doing a pop star's equivalent of an Iron Man in heels, is quite impressive.

Perry's costumes never disappoint, and her designers' work was on point for the performance that was watched by millions and, oh, earned Perry an Emmy nod. While some, such as the beach ball-inspired sundress she wore alongside Left Shark, have been burned into our cultural consciousness, they're all worthy of remembrance. So I present to you all of Katy Perry's Super Bowl 2015 outfits, chronologically ordered.

1. The Press Conference

Because the girl is nothing if not literal, Perry donned this custom football themed crop top mini skirt combo for a pre-game press conference.

She wisely chose to accessorize with just simple red pumps.

2. The Girl on Fire

What better way to pay homage to hot-blooded American football culture than to show up riding a tiger in a flame dress?

Even her harness matched. That is dedication.

Perry performed (fittingly) "Roar", "Dark Horse", and "I Kissed A Girl" in this getup before switching to...

3. The Beach Ball

This beach-themed sundress was perfect for Perry's performance of poppy singles "Teenage Dream" and "California Gurls".

This moment also brought us Left Shark, for which we are forever thankful.

4. The Jersey

Surprise guest (kinda) Missy Elliot prompted Perry to don this jersey mini dress — and tights! How did she get those tights on so quickly?

She must have superpowers.

5. The "More You Know" Star

While the parallels between Katy Perry's celestial "Firework" prop and NBC's old "More You Know" commercials are hilariously spot-on, the sheer amount of sparkle and glitter Perry rocked for her final number must be appreciated.

Also, she sang (live!) while suspended 50 feet over a football field, probably unable to see anything but spotlights. Forget the players, the toughest people on that field were Katy Perry and her crew.
