The Chances Of A Queen Bey Album In 2016

There are very few things that I need in life in order to be happy. Food and sleep help, but, really, as long as I have an episode of Real Housewives on the DVR and my Beyoncé playlist lined up and ready, I’m good to go. So, when I heard that Beyoncé is performing at this year’s Super Bowl half-time show, I was like, “Oh, it’s on.” Because the one thing I have been wondering since her self-titled album was released in 2013 is when the next album was dropping. Sorry. I’m greedy like that. I’m dying to know if her appearance at the Super Bowl means that Beyoncé is coming out with an album in 2016?

Let me just break it down for you non-Bey-lievers out there. First of all, the rumors that Beyoncé is coming out with another album have been flying since the middle of last year. As artists have hinted at collaborations on Beyoncé’s new album in interviews and on social media — artists like Future and Bone Thugs ‘N Harmony — the suspicions really started to mount. Then, when Glass John (Rihanna’s songwriter and a well-known music producer) tweeted about working on a joint album with Beyoncé and Jay-Z, the BeyHive just about lost it. Ever since then, the talk of the town is that Beyoncé’s next album will be a collaboration with Jay-Z, and I am crossing my fingers that the rumors are true.

Of course, nothing has been confirmed by Beyoncé herself. She and her husband are staying mum on the topic of a new album, but there are other signs that point toward the possibility of one coming soon. Like the fact that the last time she performed at the Superbowl in 2013, she released her self-titled album, Beyoncé, later that year in December. So there’s that.

Then, there’s the fact that Beyoncé has released an album every two to three years ever since she went solo, starting with Dangerously in Love in 2003, B’Day in 2006, I Am… Sasha Fierce in 2008, 4 in 2011, and Beyoncé in 2013. So, if Beyoncé didn’t release an album in 2016, it would be very out of character for her otherwise consistent discography.

Basically, the way I see it, Beyoncé is like a musical volcano that is due to erupt at any minute. I’m just hoping that when she does, I’m somewhere nearby to feel the magic reigning down.
