Kim & Amber Rose's Friendship Is Kinda Confusing

If you are totally confused by a certain selfie that recently appeared on a certain reality star's Instagram account, don't worry — you're not alone. Just days after the famous Kanye West/Wiz Khalifa Twitter feud that ended up involving Amber Rose jumping in with a very graphic (yet hilarious) retort of her own, it looks like a new and totally unexpected friendship has formed. Kim Kardashian and Amber Rose have officially buried the hatchet, and I couldn't be more perplexed by it. And for people who don't spend all their time keeping up with the Kardashians like I do, I can imagine this is even more of a WTF moment. Why are they suddenly friends? Were they ever friends? Have Kim and Amber met before, or is this selfie evidence of the first time?

Thanks to E!, there is now a little more info on what went on behind the scenes to make this photo appear on our feeds. According to what a source close to the new friends tells the site, after the Twitter feud went down, Kim decided to put an end to their beef once and for all — regardless of what Kanye and Wiz Khalifa were doing. Reportedly, Kim called Amber, invited her to Kris Jenner's house (the place where dreams come true and enemies become friends) to talk and the rest is history. And now, apparently Amber is telling her friends that "Kim is great." See how easy that was?!

But that still doesn't answer the big question: Is this the first time they've met or not?

There's no definitive answer out there, but they've always been part of the same circle. It's probably safe to assume that they've crossed paths before, even if it was just in passing. Kim has said that she and Kanye were always friends, and since Amber and Kanye dated from 2008-2010, it's hard to imagine that someone she was close friends with wouldn't introduce her to his longterm girlfriend. Add that to the fact that Amber dated Reggie Bush after he and Kim broke up, and not only have they probably met, but they have also probably disliked each other for a long, long time. Certainly there are more mature, evolved people out there who can be happy for an ex finding happiness, but wouldn't most people automatically not be a fan of his next girlfriend?

Here's where things get dicey, though, mostly because it's where Blac Chyna comes in. Kim and Blac Chyna used to be BFFs, but now, Blac Chyna and Amber Rose are BFFs. Whether this happened concurrently or after Blac and Kim's friendship ended, we may never know. But it didn't take long before Kylie Jenner and Tyga started dating, and Blac — Tyga's ex and baby mama — kind of indirectly caused the feud between Amber, Kylie, and Khloè Kardashian that happened last year. That particular fight started when Amber commented on Kylie being too young to date Tyga, and Khloè wasted no time standing up for her sis on Twitter — including a few snarky comments about Amber herself.

And save for a few weird exchanges on social media since then, that brings us to today: That beautiful time when hell has frozen over and pigs are flying and Kim Kardashian and Amber Rose are apparently living happily ever after as the besties they should have been from the start. OK, so maybe they aren't exchanging friendship bracelets quite yet, but at this rate, very little would surprise me.

And now that Rob is dating Blac Chyna, maybe we'll get the whole motley crew together for Thanksgiving this year? No? Well, I can dream. It would make for some killer Instagram posts.
