The Drake "Hotline Bling" Super Bowl Ad Is Amazing
If you thought that "Hotline Bling" was on the way out, you were completely wrong! Not only is the song about to have a revival, but Drake has also found a way to show us another side of his personality in the form of a new Super Bowl commercial for T-Mobile. Drake's dancing was analyzed, scrutinized, and joked about when the video for "Hotline Bling" first came out, and has since become iconic. Even Donald Trump made a "Hotline Bling" parody for Saturday Night Live (not that we should EVER mention that again), so it shouldn't be a surprise that Drake made a T-Mobile Super Bowl ad which features his awesome "Hotline Bling" dance moves and shows the world that he's actually the sweetest person alive.
The commercial starts out just like the "Hotline Bling" video does, with Drake dancing in that infamous white box as the lights change color. But, pretty soon, someone calls cut, and some people in suits run up to Drake and tell him they need to make some changes. Drake's reply to being asked to change his legit perfect video and song? He says in the cutest possible way, with the biggest smile you ever saw, "I love changes." If you didn't love Drake already, prepare to fall from him big time, as the "Hotline Bling" Super Bowl commercial might be an advert for a major company, but it's also a love letter to the best song of 2015. Here are some of the most important moments.
1. The Ad Starts With A Classic "Hotline Bling" Move
Drake walks backwards in his yellow box, and does a little kick to finish the dance move off with style. These are the moves that made the world crazy about Drake and "Hotline Bling," and made the term "dad dancing" seem cool again.
2. Drake Gets Interrupted Doing His Thang
As a big fan of the "Hotline Bling" video, it's fun to see the camera cut away from Drake to show us what the set looks like. While this is probably not the actual "Hotline Bling" set, the advert is amazing because it makes us feel as though we're a part of something special.
3. Some Executives Ask Drake To Make Some Changes
Running up the steps to join Drake in his box, some smart-looking people in suits say, "Perfect! Here are the changes." While I firmly believe that "Hotline Bling" is a work of genius because Drake did his own thing, and danced in a way that only he could, it certainly injects a little comedy into the commercial.
4. Drake Shows Us His Winning Smile
Shrugging like the request to change his hit song is nothing, Drake says, "I love changes," and smiles. And Drake's smile is totally epic. In fact, his smile makes the entire commercial, and not only proves that he's more personable than ever before, but also makes him completely sexy too.
5. Lyric Changes Are Suggested, And They're Hilarious
"When you say 'Call me on my cell phone,' just add 'Device eligible for upgrade after 24 months'." Total lolz.
6. Drake Thinks The Suggestions Are Genius
No, Drake, you're the genius!
7. There Is A Lot More Smiling
Every time Drake smiles, a fairy is born.
8. Drake Takes Even More Suggestions Like A Pro
When told he needs to mention that streaming data will incur extra charges, Drake replies like a total pro and says, "Fantastic idea!" And he seriously never stops smiling. Drake is on fleek.
9. He Makes A Little Joke
Drake says, "These changes don't ruin the song at all," and reminds us all that he's the best celebrity ever because he doesn't take himself, or his dancing, too seriously.
The Super Bowl really is the gift that keeps on giving, and more "Hotline Bling" is welcome, any time, any place. Especially when it gives us a glimpse of a version of Drake we've not seen before. Not only is he hilarious, he's sweet too. Watch Drake's Super Bowl Ad in full below.
