9 Honest Celeb Beauty Confessions

by Melanie Richtman

It seems like every day I'm seeing a new article about some celeb's beauty routine and they're always revealing some new secret that I desperately want to try, but let's face it, I don't have two and a half hours to get ready in the morning. Usually, celebrities are pretty honest about how long it takes them to get ready. It's not often that you hear someone say that they don't do anything in the morning.

Most of the time, celebrities beauty routines are pretty normal, but occasionally you'll get a surprise, like when Salma Hayek admitted to putting guacamole in her hair (although later it turned out to be just avocados, which doesn't seem as weird), or how Kylie Jenner spent 40 minutes doing her lips at one point. But you can't help but be fascinated by the things celebs do for beauty, because looking good is basically essential to their careers, so you just know they have some good advice.

Talking about celebrity beauty routines reminds me that celebrities are real people too. Like yes, they might do some weird things for the sake of beauty, but we'd all be lying if we said we haven't at least considered washing our hair in beer or mayo or whatever weird food product is all the rage for haircare at the moment. The difference, however, is that we will seem insane, whereas a celeb seems brilliant. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Here are 9 times celebs told us the secrets to their beauty routines.

1. Kendall Jenner

Kendall Jenner recently told Grazia UK that it only takes her 10 minutes to get ready in the morning. Which might seem surprising but she is a model, so they usually have to be barefaced when they step on set, so I'll accept it.

2. Lauren Conrad

While some people use mouthwash in the morning, Lauren Conrad is a fan of oil pulling, according to Just Jared. Which means that she swishes coconut oil around her mouth for 20 minutes before spitting it out. Yes, 20 minutes.

3. Scarlett Johansson

Obviously a solid skincare routine is a crucial element for everyone, and Scarlett Johansson is no different, but she prefers the all natural route, using apple cider vinegar as a toner because it helps keep breakouts in check, Huffington Post reports.

4. Halle Berry

The key to Halle Berry's smooth skin? The addition of coffee grounds to her body wash, which she claims helps exfoliate and keep her skin tight. I feel like she is just blessed, but who knows.

5. Lucy Hale

Celebs (and most humans) love coconut oil! Lucy Hale adds coconut oil to the ends of her hair, according to Teen Vogue, before tying it up in a bun and going to sleep (and then washing it out in the morning) to keep it soft and healthy.

6. Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling got brutally honest about her beauty routine in her book, talking about how she spray tans to even out her complexion, gets hair extensions (because everyone on TV has them) and how she uses the Tria Acne Clearing Blue Light to keep her breakouts under control.

7. Blake Lively

When I think of teasing I think of bad '80s hair and what my prom updo probably needed, but apparently it's the secret to Blake Lively's voluminous hair. Every morning she lightly teases her hair a time or two to get an extra does of volume, according to Marie Claire.

8. Emma Stone

Emma Stone keeps her skin fresh by washing it with a Burt's Bees cleanser and then exfoliating with a little brown sugar or baking soda, and then finishes off with a little oil to keep her skin moisturized, Cosmopolitan reports.

9. Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid is just like us! OK, aside from being a supermodel and dating a former boy bander, but she buys most of the products for her "very California" beauty routine at CVS, Into The Gloss reports. She washes her hair every few days with John Frieda's Sheer Blonde Everlasting Blonde Shampoo, washes her face with simple cleansers, like the St. Ives Apricot Invigorating scrub, and uses Eucerin's Intensive Repair Very Dry Skin Lotion on her body and her face. That last part is what sets her apart from the rest of us.
