The 'Mad Men' Cast Was So '00s At Their First SAGs
It might be the last year the we see them all together an an awards, but at least we have the Mad Men's cast first SAG Awards outfits to look back on forever. The '00s wasn't all that kind to the cast, but then again, it wasn't kind of many of us. You might think Christina Hendricks has always rocked those structured dresses or that Jon Hamm was always about slicked back hair, but you'd be surprised. The cast's first SAGs red carpet ensembles were nothing like what they would wear today.
Before they were synonymous with the characters we know and love today, the Mad Men cast was full of some relative new-comers when they hit the SAG Awards red carpet together for the very first time. The show had a huge following right away, but their first awards season as a cast was the first chance for fans to see the actors' personal style, which is drastically different than it is today. The year was 2008. Obama was just elected president, Britney Spears had a freshly shaven head, and the show had just come out on AMC.
Try to imagine this if you can: Hendricks in a neutral colored, flow dress, January Jones in bright pink ruffles, and Kiernan Shipka looking like a little girl rather than a trendy teen. Crazy right? Just see for yourself.
1. January Jones
Jones now often sticks to darker colors, so this bright pink number with a giant ruffle on her butt is honestly a bit shocking.
2. Jon Ham
Hamm looks almost exactly the same with his slicked back hair and dapper ensemble, but his pre-SAGs lack back look is much different.
3. Christina Hendricks
Can you believe your eyes? Before she was the smokey eye sporting, sultry dress-wearing fashion star that she is today, Hendricks wore this silver ruffley ensemble.
4. John Slattery
Slattery didn't look all that different at his first SAG Awards, but he was without his thick black glasses, which are a staple in his wardrobe today.
5. Elisabeth Moss
Moss rocked redish hair for her first SAG Awards. Her shiny slip dress was so '00s, as was her minimalist makeup.
6. Kiernan Shipka
Shipka didn't join her co-stars on the SAG Awards red carpet until 2009, but her outfit was a little less high fashion than what we might see her in today. Still, she looked so cute!
7. The Whole Gang
It wasn't until 2009, when they had their first big SAG win as a group, that the whole cast came together on the carpet. Note Hamm's disheveled hair!
I can't wait to see how they look this year for their final SAGs red carpet all together.
