Quick — this divorce, is it a ploy for more drama on next season of The Real Housewives of New York, or is it a legitimate split with no ulterior motive? Me, I'm on the fence: RHONY is often viewed as the "lesser" Real Housewives franchise (behind Real Housewives of Atlanta and Real Housewives of New Jersey, of course), and with the March season premiere nearing closer and closer, it would sort of make some sort of messed up sense that they'd announce this split now to get people excited to watch what exactly caused their marriage to crack in the new season. Exploitative, yes, but since when have we expected anything less from reality television? In any case: According to Us Weekly, Real Housewives of New York star Ramona Singer and husband Mario have separated, and are apparently already dating other people.
In all seriousness, though, the details do sound extremely terrible: Though things are said to be amicable between the couple now, the straw that broke the camel's back and prompted the couple to separate was a "heated fight" at their Hamptons home, which Radar Online reports included Mario "choking" Ramona.

There's no word on when the couple will divorce, but if they do, I'm sure we'll hear all about it as the new season approaches.
