Sorry Haleb fans — it seems like there may be a new it couple in Rosewood. In the Pretty Little Liars Season 6B premiere, Spencer and Caleb looked a little cozier than when we last saw them. Before you freak out and say that Spencer and Caleb dating would be the worst thing to happen to Pretty Little Liars since Paige tried to drown Emily, think again. A Spaleb storyline could be a wonderful boost for the show and a very interesting way to add drama to the Liars’ relationships.
Hanna and Caleb may have moved to New York together, but that’s all in the past now. Hanna is now engaged to an older, accented dude named Jordan, leaving Caleb to stay in Spencer’s barn while he’s in Rosewood. Why would he stay at Spencer’s if they didn’t have some kind of relationship? Why would he be hanging out with Veronica Hastings? I know he doesn’t have a family in town, but the Hastings are not exactly The Andy Griffith Show. Clandestine meetings in hotels, staying in a barn, and the reminiscing of a possibly sultry night in Europe? Spencer and Caleb are totally doing it, and while Hanna may not be pleased when she finds out, she is with someone else. It’s a tough pill to swallow for PLL fans, but here’s why Spaleb could actually be a great thing. Spencer & Caleb Are A Dream Team
Talk about a formidable opponent — Spencer’s relentless pursuit of whatever she wants and Caleb’s ability to hack into any database set them up to be the ultimate power couple. Though I know they’ll probably only use their powers for good, what an awesome evil duo they’d make.
It Would Add Interesting Conflict For The Liars
The Liars presented a pretty united front in prior seasons because they would have been hunted down one by one otherwise, but since they are all relatively safe, it would make for great television to see them deal with real conflict within the group. How would Spencer and Hanna maintain their own friendship? How would Aria and Emily react? And don’t forget — Caleb and Toby are also friends. This coupling would add complexity to almost all of the show's major friendships.
It’s A New Relationship For B To Exploit
A, aka Charlotte DiLaurentis, always tried to pit couples against one another—Ezra and Aria, Caleb and Hanna, Toby and Spencer, Emily and Paige. We’ve already seen how each respective duo has dealt with that stress, but you know what we haven’t seen? Spencer and Caleb, arguing in a rainstorm while B (the new A) has them cornered.
Whether or not you're rooting for Spaleb, you have to admit, their relationship would bring a ton of exciting plots to Pretty Little Liars this season. Let the love games begin!
