Here's Where 22 Disney Movie Stars Are Today

by Loretta Donelan

Disney is most famous for its animated films, but you'd be surprised by how many live-action Disney movies you can probably still recite lines from. From classics like Mary Poppins to '90s childhood staples like Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, you probably still recognize a lot of Disney movie stars, but you might not necessarily know what they're up to in the present day. Since Disney produces a lot of family-friendly movies, many of those stars were children who have since grown up to become very different people. Some of them have become mega-famous, some of them have quit the business entirely, and others have remained in the entertainment industry, but more under-the-radar.

While you are probably very aware of the careers of Lindsay Lohan and Zac Efron, you might not know what other movies Kathy Najimy starred in, or what Alex D. Linz ended up doing with his life. Before they make revivals of all of these movies (come on, you know it's inevitable), why not remember the original stars, whose faces feel like old friends but whose names you might not have heard in a decade? Here are 22 once-famous Disney movie stars from over the years, and what they're up to these days.

1. Lalaine

The actor who played Miranda on Lizzie McGuire and the subsequent movies, as well as starred in You Wish!, dropped acting to pursue a music career in 2009. Her band Vanity Theft disbanded in 2015, but she told The Huffington Post that she's mostly been taking on small side projects since.

2. Rick Moranis

Rick Moranis starred in lots of '90s classics, including Disney's Honey, I Shrunk The Kids, but he's pretty much kept to himself since then. He hasn't officially retired, but he says he's very selective about his roles, which is why he won't be in a Ghostbusters reboot.

3. Emilio Estevez

The former member of the Brat Pack, who starred in Disney's The Mighty Ducks, hasn't appeared in public much lately. His last big project was 2011's The Way, a movie he wrote, directed, and starred in alongside his father.

4. Georgie Henley

Henley starred in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe when she was 10. She's now 20 and has taken on a few small roles, but has mostly devoted her time to attending university and writing/directing her first film.

5. Kathy Najimy

You might be more familiar with the lives of the other two witches of Hocus Pocus, Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker, but Kathy Najimy has had a pretty outstanding comedy career, too. Did you recognize her in Inside Amy Schumer's hilarious computer therapy sketch?

6. Jonathan Jackson

Jackson, who played Tuck opposite Alexis Bledel in Tuck Everlasting, starred on General Hospital for over a decade (not consecutively), and he also played Avery in Nashville.

7. Ryan Merriman

You probably recognize Merriman from Pretty Little Liars, but you might not have realized that he was also the star of Disney Channel classics like The Luck of The Irish and Smart House.

8. Hayley Mills

There was a time when the Panabaker sisters were all over the Disney Channel. Unlike her sister Danielle, Kay hasn't acted in much in the last few years, but she's instead pursued a career in zookeeping.

12. Elaine Hendrix

Elaine Hendrix, who played the mean stepmom in the more recent Parent Trap, has done a lot since then. She's appeared in a lot of movie and TV roles, but she's primarily devoted herself to animal activism.

13. Brandon Baker

The actor, who played Johnny Kapahala in the Johnny Tsunami movies, took a break to study film at UCLA before returning to acting.

14. Michelle Trachtenberg

You might not have seen Michelle Trachtenberg, former Disney queen and star of Ice Princess, since Gossip Girl went off the air. However, while it looks like she took a bit of a break, she has two movies coming up in 2016, including one with fellow former child star Haley Joel Osment.

15. Doug E. Doug

The Cool Runnings star is still acting; he has a starring role in the upcoming series Brown Nation.

16. Glynis Johns

17. Kirsten Storms

The actor, who played Xenon in the Xenon movies, has since starred in almost 1,000 episodes of General Hospital. She and her husband Brandon Barash had a daughter in 2014.

21. Alex D. Linz

The star of Max Keeble's Big Move is no longer acting. He graduated from UC Berkeley in 2011, but has since been pretty under-the-radar.

22. Heather Matarazzo

You might have spotted Heather Matarazzo, best known for her role as Lily in The Princess Diaries, in Amy Poehler and Tina Fey's Sisters, but she's also appeared on Grey's Anatomy and Law & Order. She's also a vocal feminist and LGBTQ supporter.

Hopefully, you've had like 18 moments of, ohh I forgot about them in the past few minutes. These actors have all been busy living their lives while you've been living yours, so it makes sense they've accomplished a lot both in and out of the Disney world.
