Once again I find myself asking, are we all Hydra? The Season 2 premiere of Agent Carter introduced some juicy new baddies, but I have a sneaking suspicion that they're all connected in the end. Dottie Underwood's pin may be a mystery to Peggy Carter, but Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans may already have solved it, and all signs point to Hydra.
In the opening scene of Agent Carter Season 2, Dottie Underwood cosplayed Peggy Carter (for no particular reason, which makes it especially creepy) and took this pin from a safety deposit box, while some cronies held up the bank. One episode later, Peggy and Dr. Jason Wilkes encountered some bad guys who were also wearing said pin. They seem to be connected to Calvin Chadwick's "Council" that he took orders from, which the Agent Carter producers have identified as Marvel's Secret Empire. The symbol is also found on the Council's back wall.
Remember when Jemma Simmons discovered that Astronaut Will's Distant Star space organization was hiding a logo that was tied to ritualistic sacrifice, the planet Maveth, and ultimatley Hydra? One of those logos looks an awful lot like Dottie's pin. The connection between the pin's design and the old ram's head Hydra logo was brought to my attention by Twitter user Darth Amethystos, and a few other people have spotted the design by now, too. So let's do a side by side screenshot comparison. Here is Dottie's pin, and then the ram's head/Hydra logo progression that FitzSimmons uncovered on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
That's.... yeah that's pretty similar. It looks most like the way the ram's head was hidden into the Pathfinder logo, actually. There are some problems with this theory. One, the space program that Will was a part of is many years to come. Two, we've already seen the Hydra logo in this time period with the Red Skull in Captain America. Simmon's research shows that this particular is from the nineteenth century. So is this an antique pin?
Perhaps the Council that Calvin sits on is who will eventually infiltrate S.H.I.E.L.D. as Hydra. Remember, S.H.I.E.L.D. does not exist yet, and Arnim Zola is still alive and well in prison. Maybe Dottie's organization is a Hydra spinoff. It's definitely bad news for all involved, but this would be a fun connection between Agent Carter and Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as a looming threat.
